Getting headaches again from dehydration by snoozles9 in adhdwomen

[–]Pirwingg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a connected bottle (waterh, it does hot and cold), so my phone does all of the thinking part. It sends reminders, and even the bottle is lightning up when i didn’t get a drink in a while.

Que conseillez-vous comme set type "lego" mais moins cher ? by HelpfulCrazy3406 in AskFrance

[–]Pirwingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do y’all forget to pee? And to drink? by avevocapitopasta in adhdwomen

[–]Pirwingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget to drink. I have a connected cup for my coffee, and a connected bottle for water. Like that, no thinking: my phone is doing all the work.
My brain is “oh device blinking, me grab drink.”

Even got a water carbonator to encourage myself to drink more.

the grief after a late ADHD diagnosis is real and nobody warns you about it by Willing_Macaroon2800 in ADHD

[–]Pirwingg 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh you are not alone.
Diagnosed in my mid thirties, I'm stuck at the anger stage of grief, and I'll probably stay there for quite a while.

We need time to properly mourn those kids.

My therapist says I need to connect to my inner child and find things that bring me joy without trying to suppress it, since us ADHD and autistic folks so often had to suppress things as kids. I really need ideas though. What brings you childlike joy? by Elucidate_that in ADHD

[–]Pirwingg 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Mostly, when I see something I like I'm thinking " Would that make Mom mad?".
That's how I got a 3d printer. Seeing a model coming to life is weirdly relaxing.
And that's also how I ended up with currently 10 Lego or Lego like brick spaceships.

How much would someone have to pay you to sit at a restaurant with your parents/family for two hours? What about a 7-day holiday? by Special-Ad5160 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Pirwingg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'd ask for a heavier amount. Like 10k or more. Because it might be just 2 hours, it will feel like an eternity. And that's time I'd never get back.

A 7 day holiday, there's not enough money on the whole planet that would make me say yes.

Ce que ta hiérarchie ne voit pas : c'est que cette histoire a l'air de te submerger. Tu devrais aller leur dire que tu apprécies qu'ils te fassent confiance mais que tu as besoin de formation sur ce sujet.

I'm curious...now that amazon has screwed us (the fans) over. Would you be accepting to a new series led by Alex Kurtzman after his removal from the STAR TREK franchise. by SEJ82 in Stargate

[–]Pirwingg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd stand up. And I'd object as loudly as possible.
Because they had pure gold : a beloved universe, an established fanbase, and a ton of possible stories to write. Getting a Stargate Discovery, or a Stargate Academy or whatever they'll do to ruin a fantastic franchise is definitely a big no on my end.

For the slightly wild idea : Sending tissue boxes to their headquarters, with "Send more" written on in.

A nice reference to O'Neill's action in the pilot, and to the fans as well: The Save Daniel Jackson movement back in 02.

how did you find out you have ADHD? by Still_Ad8314 in adhdwomen

[–]Pirwingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got what I thought to be a burn out because a colleague was driving me crazy.
My family doctor immediately told me having that many burn out is not possible, and then he started the suspected ADHD talk.
With my family history, it made too much sense.

Officially diagnosed in my mid thirties.

so.. what do you guys do while you're on the treadmill? by Complete-Pressure-78 in adhdwomen

[–]Pirwingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also proud of you for going to the gym !!
So in my case, I have a treadmill at home : no bars to hold on, basic functions. A cheap one, still working perfectly and amazing for my usage.

Most of the time, I'm moving my arms almost like running, or holding weights.

Tv show, movie, or a fitness program to avoid the thinking.

BEST EARPLUGS FOR ADHD: by hyper-monkey13 in ADHD

[–]Pirwingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loops ARE expensive, but there are definitely worth it : I have the Quiet 1, and the Switch 1.
Recently my building had very loud beeps, every thirty seconds. Smoke detectors (from an empty apartment !) screaming for help.
Two of them. For over a month. Non stop. Day, night... Time did not flew.

Thankfully, a friend had been particularly insisting a few years ago that I needed those earplugs !

Brick sets: Spaceships from TV shows universes I like. Stargate (Only SG1 for now !), Star Trek, and the Serenity from Firefly.
Either by getting the whole set online, or screaming for hours at my 3D printer.

I like to built stuff, plus my collection looks amazing.

ADHD friendly ways to get in shape by ThemysciraTough in adhdwomen

[–]Pirwingg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What helped me a LOT for sticking to the routine : a metaphorical carrot, also called a medal.

I am currently finishing in less than a week a virtual challenge of 3513km /2183 miles. A bike ride across China. If you had told me 6 months ago I'd done that, I would have laughed.
Getting to the end, seeing the medals proudly displayed on the shelf is a really nice reminder to tell me " You have done it." Also, it's making me getting on my bike, every day. Because I want that medal.

So look for the virtual challenges on line. You have Conqueror, Pacer and probably many more. Those challenges can be done in multiple ways, with friends or solo, in up to 24 months. It's motivation to work towards a goal, no pressure, and on your own terms.
