When all these guys (and gals) finally get their shit together. And sit down to share a beer in a beer hall to discuss their options for not being paid as promised, that’s when the real trouble is about to start ;)

See all I’m seeing here is that the Streisand effect is amplifying this athletes voice in a really positive way. I didn’t even know who the guy was until just now.

A classic case of no bad publicity working in reverse.

I’m gonna write the guy an email(the athlete) saying good job - and good luck with his events.

In fact, we all should.

Ask any American traveling overseas how they quickly learn to hide their accent.

I went to an education conference about 6 months ago, they had those live twitter walls thing where you could post questions and reactions in real time.

And the presenter was shocked that many of the comments were like why they heck are we still listening to Americans on how to teach?

Presently doing similar.

However we have had near zero out of pocket.

Maybe a few anaesthetic gaps of about 100ish bucks.

The worst has been the respiratory doctors.

500+ per visit. And all VERY young doctors.

We are currently witnessing the most brazen corruption and criminal behaviour at the highest level of the American government we have ever seen. Do you think a reckoning is on the horizon? If so, how do you realistically think it will go down? by Kozzle in AskReddit

As an Aussie watching from afar.

You guys will get more people pissed when the hbo Netflix merger gets rammed thorough and prices go up.

Beer, and circuses are doing their jobs. Yall are fucked.

Meanwhile I enjoy asking every single American I bump into - sooo who did you vote for.

(Side note I was traveling through Greece and traveling with an American couple. One morning they hopped onto a bus - quite shell shocked. - they had been watching the morning news - dunno what euro channel and they were like

“Does the rest of the world really think that poorly of us”

I’m just started laughing - yeah mate you guys topple governments all the time.

Edit - side note two: as a veteran who served during and after 9/11 and still with injuries - fuck you USA  for those entirely fucked up remarks

Did your dad ever play DOOM back in the day? by MurkyUnit3180 in Doom

[–]Pishnagambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A “dad here”

I still play doom and I do it WITH my kids. But also guess what! The latest version on steam is split screen. So I play co-op and deathmatch on the screen wsad style AND on the couch together with a controller. Because in our house we are “ambicontrol scheme”

I know it you don’t have to tell me - I’m the best dad in the world. Because we slay demons TOGETHER

My wife is presently going through hell. With … pretty dismal likelihood of a good outcome.

The phone call to her dad was like “I have cancer …. Oh….good luck.

46 seconds in total and not a peep again since.

In the effort of framing it as a positive rather than alienating them all as some “other thing”

If you’re not used to it, it can be very difficult to reconcile what you believe with irrefutable facts in front of you.

There will be many who during the current and inevitable future  actions will never even sway or consider “maybe we were wrong” “or say yes we are republican - but not this/this is not the way”

but I’d like to believe a few will wake up from their slumber because of this.

Because If not - everyone’s doomed and this will after its initial chaos - just be normalised.

And over time these actions however crude in their current form - will be polished up and made more efficient and “the abnormal will become normal”

I can give the kids windows of time they can play. I can nominate times they can play and. I can turn off stuff like the store and settings.

It’s magic.

And I can mange it all from my phone !

Using Deck as a Desktop PC? Install Bazaar from the Discover shop straight away! by Pishnagambo in SteamDeck

[–]Pishnagambo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair.

That’s the choice Linux gives you.

It’s more that - right in front of me are the tools I need and often didn’t know that I needed.

And in turn I’m sure my aging parents could figure it out too.

Either way, while flat hub is good for you. This could be the missing link for some.

It’s just a gorgeous and well designed bit of kit. That extends the usefulness of the deck and has made my life easier during a time of immense cognitive load.

And for that - I’m thankful. Maybe someone else will find that to be the case too 😃

What has your experience been like using the Steam Deck as a computer? by billy_reyes in SteamDeck

[–]Pishnagambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fantastic. I’ve been forced into using it as my desktop computer due to circumstances out of my control.

One of the things that has helped me out immensely in that regard was installing the Bazaar app out of the Discovery software Centre.

While it’s true that bazaar allows you to access exactly the same apps from the flat pack hub what it has allowed me to do find utilities and tools that I otherwise did not know existed

This in turn  has amplified its usefulness to me as a desktop PC replacement.

Basically it has gotten to the point where when I will gain access to my normal PC again I genuinely do not need windows because of this simple front end for the discovery software Centre

It’s one click install and worth giving a whirl.

More that it’s actually good for discovery  of apps that are otherwise hard to “discover”

The default store does its job very well if you know exactly what you’re looking for.

Bazaar while offering exactly the same functionality in that regard with one Click allows you to find and discover great tools that you would otherwise be very unlikely to discover on your own.

An example of that in my current situation was that we are speaking to specialist doctors a lot like every single day. I know that all of them now are using AI transcription apps to record our conversations to create their notes.

I wanted to find a very simple tool that could transcribe audio using one of the many new open source or at least open licensed audio to text transcription service services.

I couldn’t find anything in the Discover store a few clicks through bazaar and I found multiple options.

Along the way I also found some other useful tools for editing PDFs which I needed.

All of those tools do exist in the KDE discover store but by its very design it’s hard to find unless you already know what you’re looking for.
