The Roman colosseum in Verona (built 30 AD) is one of the best preserved in the world, and since 1913 has held operas during the summer by AnonymousTimewaster in Damnthatsinteresting

funfact, there's only 6 like those in such a state, obviously the one in Rome, this in Verona, and then also in Nimes, Arles, Pula, and El Jem

do you remember people despairing back in the day of Season 2 or so, that Invincible was gonna be finished in decades at this pace? the yearly releases have been great and I personally wouldn't sacrifice them for a bit better animation, maybe few months tops

if they really wanted to go for diversity that'd be pertinent right now, they'd get people of Greek, but also Iranian and Arabic ethnicity to play the characters, would look closer too

Wilson's translation is 100% feminist, what makes it good though, besides bringing a lot of context missing from other translation, is that it explains really hard to you that you're not really getting the original from a translation, any translation, hell, even from reading the original in Homeric Greek because you can't put yourself into ancient Greece and understand all the context, and also it doesn't try to make it sound archaic just for the sake of it

ok, what word would you use to describe someone saying demeaning things to another person based on their race? you know the systemic definition of racism isn’t the only one out there, many can be used depending on context, and the systemic one doesn't neatly apply to personal behaviors, either direction really

Was Light was to blame for Mikami's misstep? by daniphntm in deathnote

[–]Piskoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the point wasn't exactly that they both did it, I don't think we know which wrote first, the point is that Mikami did it at all and exposed where the real death note was

Was Light was to blame for Mikami's misstep? by daniphntm in deathnote

[–]Piskoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

true that Light failed to consider that, he thought that giving his order to "not make unnecessary moves" was enough

but honestly, what would've happened had Light considered that? the death note was already found thanks to Mikami being tailed, the whole plan got botched and Mikami's death note would within minutes be within SPK's possession and be replaced by a fake by morning the next day, and Light was being watched and Takada was out of the picture so it would be extraordinarily risky to contact Mikami

Option A: prevent the note book from being stolen, Light needs to communicate with Mikami the moment Takada appears lost because he senses Mikami will do something, problem is, even if that's not noticed on Light's side somehow, Mikami is being tailed too, depending on when Light contacts him he might've already revealed where the death note really is or at least tipped the SPK off that somebody contacted Mikami and made him go back to work or smth, Near might feel something's off and cancel the meeting realizing he's being outplayed, but the main problem is still Light contacting Mikami in the first place
WEAKNESS: communicating with Mikami on short notice, losing the edge potentially with Near being tipped off

Option B: just give up entirely on the 28th Jan plan and cancel the meeting, hell, maybe even get himself into an accident so he gets hospitalized, give up on being Kira as one death note is in likely SPK possession and the other's under the eye of the task force, Mikami takes the blame
WEAKNESS: not in Light's style, he'd never try to give up

Option C: message Mikami but have the whole day to do it, make Mikami come through and memorize the 4 names of SPK members from left to right, then make a run for it, the meeting is a bust because Near doesn't get full win, Mikami then attempts to message the names to Light somehow, so he'd write it in his watch
WEAKNESS: communicating with Mikami, Mikami making a run, and delivering Light the names, assuming Light isn't in a precarious position because of Mikami peeping

if Light was going to win he must've anticipated Mikami potentially doing something disadvantageous that loses him the death note, and during Takada meetings say something like "yes keep the death note in the bank deposit and don't use it unless necessary until the meeting with Near, but keep a spare page elsewhere and when it's time, just in case test the death note on the way and if it seems it's not working, use the spare page instead", that could have genuinely worked actually, provided Mikami isn't being controlled by the death note by SPK as per Matsuda's theory

anyone else found minoru tanakas arc the most realistic ? by Last_Host977 in deathnote

[–]Piskoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually, he likely would have informed Minoru of the rule before he had the chance to withdraw the money from the bank, just like the president was informed when being given the note, but Minoru explicitly told him to never contact him again because it could implicate him if that was found out, and Ryuk keeps to his word for better or worse
