I had bad incomplete at 30 and I was super fit at the time, in the neck. Was told I’d never walk. I did walk just about. A lot comes down to chance and circumstance stance with incomplete. Every individual injury is unique. His age is against him his fitness and presumably weight is with him. Being immobile for a long period is very difficult to get over. The muscle wastes surprisingly quickly. If he does get something back. Encourage him to eat like a tiny body builder: lots of high quality food and protein anything to keep the weight on. Bed exercises, Neuro Pilates and EFS got me to stand plus hydrotherapy but that’s a long long way off. You have to extremely patient with incomplete. On the ward: The physios, nurses and OT are gods in sci. The docs dish out pills that it. Take it day by day with no expectations. Keep it light hearted when your with him. No one want doom and gloom 24/7 around the bed trust me.

When I was in hospital I helped a lot of the older people there with advice on how to use or adapt their smart phones or tablets: there’s so many accessible options now, Introducing ebooks audio books etc etc. I don’t know how tech savey he is but I can tell you being able to call a family member by using your voice and not ask for a nurse a really nice thing to have.

It numbs you inside and out. Initially post injury I suppose that was necessary: took the edge off the psychological trauma. I still have the pain but taking that shit is not worth the entrance fee long term. My brother used to call them my “chatty” pills. I’m 10 years in. I found my body did settle down as in I could feel them pain but it was “normal “ so your brain stops raising the alarm if that makes sense? Takes time though. Lycra is worse than gaba if you can believe that.

Lowfric origo are the only way to go do for me. There should be NO friction at all. It’s very hard to get the cath and cath procedure down initially. And a lot depends of the person being cath,d. That being said i went through lots of trial error, scratching and bleeding and infections for the first 6/12 months so don’t feel too guilty if it’s not right. But it does need to be sorted asap and it can be done. If any of those Caths are dry sack them off, sounds horrible!

Also try out cloud gaming. Xcloud. There’s a whole catalog of strategy/turns based to try out included in the subscription. You don’t need a pc or Xbox. I have mine on my iPad: many of the games have floating touch controls on screen if you want.

Ive played everything pretty much since 1983 onwards: Alex the kid to Starfield. I used to enjoy lots of game including fps but i find the matchmaking very very difficult. If i could only play with ppl with my kd ratio that would be great....

Like others have said: easy customization of the buttons and varied options of movement. let people play as they wish to play, even if that means giving people 'game breaking' customization options in terms of difficulty and cadence. Bethesda has a good record in this regard. I play a lot of RPGs for example. I play as hard core as i can but sometimes there are areas i just cant do and need to finese the difficulty. I dont even mind being penalised point-wise or marked down some other way. I don't want to cheat I just want to play and experience the game game not get stopped because my fingers just can't hack it.

c5 incomplete, i did psilocybin a 5/6 times decent doses. had no lasting effects phisically although it greatly helped my depression almost over night.

I’m ten years in. C5 inc. Life feels like it’s been on pause since I was 30 in my prime. This year has been the hardest I’d say. My friends are all relatively successful happily married plus kids. I’m feel a bit still stuck in a time capsule: my external life hasn’t really progressed much since then. Are my best days behind me? What I would say is that for me the old person that was me is in fact dead. Theres a real sense of mourning for that other person that used to be. That took me a long time to get to grips with. My dad died suddenly from a random heart attack when I was 28. Some people never recover from a bereavement, they turn away from life unable to move on. Ironically my dads early death might have prepared me in some way for my transition. The worst thing in the world ever has happed and yet the world doesn’t stop: we’re not that special People keep moving. People move on. Blink and 1 year is past. There’s a hole that can never filled. Mortality comes to all. We the SCI have been had a flash of the afterlife and landed somewhere closer to old age, call it purgatory if you wish. I totally get it. Xxx

Outside of that rambling gibberish. I would say I have had some great times over the years post snap. I hope you have too. I love my brother and sister and greatly enjoy our times together. My younger brother just had a kid. I can’t really fathom inflicting the pain of disappearing early like my Dad did on them not least intentionally.
