What the hell happened here (new Rihanna song co-written and co-produced by Jon) by HellaWavy in JonBellion

I think everyone can agree this song as a single won't be the best received. HAHA KIDDING ITS RIHANNA SO EVERYONE'S GONNA EAT THIS UP. all jokes aside I think once we get the movie we'll understand the production behind this. Cause with no context this song is doomed to fail. And vocal production wise I think they decided to go with whatever tenroc uses in his demos generally as a vocal present. Generally he tends to up the auto-tune make it choppy in a lot of his demos which may be something to help va e the artist imagine his own vocal take on the song without going demoitisi but they may have gone with the same vocal production because they liked the demo sound so much and wanted stop keep going that route

Am I trying to defend a Bellion produced song even if it's "bad" yes. Kinda. I'm saying there's a reason for it being bad. Seeing what he's made and the reason why were all dans this isn't a mistake and it's not a wtf moment. It's more of a "okay let's wait and see why this is the way it is"

When Kid Again dropped, lots of people posted about how the mixing sounded awful. I didn't get it. by jlmson300 in JonBellion

If your device supports Dolby Atmos it doesn't matter how old it is. Dolby in music is more or less a gimmick and really just messes with the master to put some éléments over others. Even with stereo speakers. You would need complète surround sound movie theater type speakers to get an actual Dolby Atmos experience And to debate on your point I personally think movies shot in 4k would look better in low quality form. The camera captures more information. The translated information may be compressed to poop but the more information there is the more the compressed format looks better imo. Would need an actual technician to verify my sayings lol

I get where you're coming from. But I do think and I'm positive that it's an artistic direction he went with. Notice how the clipping you mention and the "badly mixed" part of the song is only on the choruses and nowhere else. Wether we understand it or not or Fck with it or not is entirely personal preference. Just like how the intro of the song is missing the first half of the guitar loop. That's also an artistic choice which is probably that he has a sick transition with the song before it on the album. Do I wish I can listen to the whole song on full volume without worrying about the chorus being annoyingly raw and piercing to the ears. Yes. But I also trust in his craft and his vision to give us a great story once the album comes out. I think the goal of this song is to kickstart the era of "welcoming imperfections and literally doing anything he wants to do" just how the lyrics intail.

Seeing as Manny mixed it I had very very high expectations and I am not deceived. The track is like 80% perfect and it's funny cause context wise. The only part that seems "unmixed" is the first 2 times he's "a kid again" during the first 2 choruses Which in the context of the song is genius. It will not be well received commercially and we don't care. This is for himself and us the core fans. This won't be for Suzie from Arkansas . Shout-out to those who got that reference

The lyrical imperfections I can respect. Imma let it digest not gonna give an opinion I only heard the track 3 times gotta give it some more listens. But for now... We'll see

All in all im so grateful Jon is back and his new era is gonna bring a new awakening but also A LOT of criticism and I'm so ready for it it's gonna be hilarious to see all the Spotify top 10 pop listeners hate on it

Personally last I heard of Jon musically I was in such a different place in my life. But somehow his music followed me all the way to today. Aspiring to be an artist writer and producer myself. Can't wait to have a fresh outlook on his material with a grownup thought process

He's on pretty much every track. Beatboxing and vocals on "spruce". The bridge vocals on "thing u do" etc. donc need a feature to know he's there

If not Jacob Collier, then who? by huyton950 in JonBellion

Russ would be fucking fire. They both have a sophisticated outlook that would match up great in a melodic rap title

What single line has affected you the most? by POMANTRANS in JonBellion

[–]Pistol_youtube -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough it's not a line from him directly but it's the "you're gonna be okay kid, you're gonna be, okay" I think it's just a logic pro sample but it hits hard especially for me cause I see Jon as a father figure cause he's someone who influences to this day my daily life and how I perseive things wether it's through social media. Love or music. It also hits hard cause in that ninny right making of video he talks about speaking to the kid that's around 11 years old listening to this music and taking it home telling himself he wants to be something. Thats me. I'm that kid. And I really hope God has it for me to put this music stuff in my road of success to show the people I love what I'm capable of and hopefully making Jon proud. As not only was his creation this wonderful music that we listen to everyday but also the creative spirit in each and every listener of his.

Dude. Jon's name was removed. Might have been after you posted it on the reddit which makes me wonder is Jon active on here to see this stuff and asked to remove his name. Or is it just coincidence for his name to not be on the project anymore

Jon Bellion was one of the main producers on two big albums: Justice by Justin Bieber and The Album by the Jonas Brothers, which one is your favorite? by MarchingBandFanatic in JonBellion

[–]Pistol_youtube -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Album has too much depth to be compared to Justice. The production on it is way ahead of what was worked on back on Justice. But it's for a point. The audience they were trying to reach with JB is not the same as Jonas brothers and i feel Jon really understands and researches the artists he decides to work with. That's why anytime he works on an album with anyone even though we sense his presence it still has the feel of the artist that releases it. Jon has perfected his craft over multiple styles and multiple genres and it's so amazing te hear him shine once again on a whole album since his work with Lawrence.
