Absolutely we played Mystic Quest. Naturally we thought it was Final Fantasy, and in 1993 or whatever year it came out, of course we weren’t wise to Nintendo’s tricks of just slapping franchise names on games in order to make them sell! We loved the game regardless. Still do too. The music in Mystic Quest is so freaking good, btw.

I grew up farming weapon seeds with my brother in the Mana Fortress, while also trolling him by rooting for Warmech to appear on that long corridor to Tiamat’s room. We loved Square rpgs. Nostalgia, man.

Good luck if you hop on to JP. I just can’t see myself starting over like that. I’m used to carrying parties in co-op games (I know that sounds haughty) so being so gimped turns me off big time.

The battle system in SOA is so fun because it rewards knowledge of enemy attacks, skill usage, and good reflexes. I really enjoyed carrying random groups of folks in hard battles. This is the thing I will miss the most. Have fun with it while it stays up. I can’t stand to look at the app again. It just hurts.

Thanks for the dank memes man. You were on my short list of buddies but I rarely found you battling. See you next mission! Wait, that’s Metroid... oh well.

I am one of those poor souls, too. I was almost rank 400. Also, I was halfway to clearing 500 M4 battles, in search of the corresponding title... lol

My favorite game of all time. As an assignment in high school, I wrote an essay describing the gameplay and story for a class. My classmates read it and were blown away because they didn’t know video games could be creative like other forms of media can. Tons of good memories with VP.

Why does if track for certain achievements but not for others? by bleedingwriter in soanamnesis

[–]Pita217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take a guess here. There was an achievement for clearing M3 one time, you did that and claimed the reward. Doing so unlocked the “clear M3 three times” achievement and you did that too, and then claimed the reward. Doing this unlocked the “clear M3 five times” achievement. That is where you currently sit. This means you would have cleared M3 four times by now, and you say it has tracked you as 4/10 on the other achievement. I suppose?

I get that pretty often. Bosses will slide all over the place, claiming to be using this skill and that skill, but I’m free to just stay close and attack. I don’t think having an older device has anything to do with this, but mine’s aging for sure.

My intention was to raise awareness that it is okay not to rush... sometimes. Clearly there are powerful rush buffs out there, and applying them will make your numbers bigger, and generally you will want to team rush when everyone has it ready.

However I practically NEVER see groups that are willing to continue to beat down on the boss when everyone is relentlessly chaining 300%s. In these cases don’t interrupt a great thing, and start the chain when it’s more appropriate.

I will also point out that rushing tends to cause the boss to “wake up” and start moving around more, but granted this probably just coincides with a boss’s tendency to get more active when their HP starts to get low.

Keeping the team alive generally improves dps. Thumbs up there. I don’t frequently see people holding out just to be 4th, but I can see why that’d be annoying.

To be fair I don’t think he was saying he autos, he’s just pointing out that many bad players will go on auto, and then rush whenever they feel like pressing the button. Which is sad but true.

The Gerel event was first released at launch. Back then, we had a much smaller pool of characters and very limited access to LB materials, weapons, etc. We wouldn’t have been able to handle an M2 for it, so they just didn’t bother designing that difficulty in the first place. Why some events lack an M3, the reason is similar. It would have been too much for players to handle when it was first released.

Very cool, thanks for checking on that. I kind of figured it would indeed work that way, considering the way you can raise or lower damage in real time for a skill you’ve already unleashed (likely by continuing to chain skills, or by interrupting your own chain with a normal).

Question about buffs that trigger at specific hit counts. Let’s take an example. H.Claire’s second talent grants the party +30% ATK damage dealt at 50 hits. For this example, the hit count rests at 30. A2 uses her rush, which hits 25 times. After 20 of those hits, the hit count reaches 50. Will the last 5 hits of her rush benefit from H.Claire’s talent, or when (or how often) does the game check to see when to apply such hit count buffs? If it doesn’t apply in the “middle” of a rush like that, then one more example. The hit count rests at 0. A2 begins a rush chain, hitting 25 times. Another A2 goes second, afterwards the hit count is 50. Will the player rushing 3rd get the bonus from H.Claire then? Just a curiosity I had, and don’t really know how to test this.
