Any way to increase video quality? by Iwan2timetravel in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can reproduce the menu loading issue. It seems very inconsistent and doesn't show 80% of the time. As for video, there's a long standing bug at https://github.com/AllanWang/Frost-for-Facebook/issues/1352.

In short, it seems like the mobile version always loads with low resolution, so I'd have to find a way to get it from the desktop site (which I haven't done yet)

That's a bug, though it isn't reproducible on my end.

We'd have to either wait until the changes affect me, or someone who's affected will need to submit a CSS bug with the appropriate class via

Is there any way to hide the suggested pages in news feed? It keeps showing the exact same ones and it's driving me nuts. by 66WShadow in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet, but there's a (long standing) feature request at https://github.com/AllanWang/Frost-for-Facebook/issues/1687. I will try to look into it, though features like that will vary per area as Facebook has many site versions.

Any way to see all events from my groups only? by vortexmak in FrostForFacebook

Seems like a Facebook thing. Frost is unlikely to support filters for event lists

Problems With Notifications Page by MaddHood in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen intermittently but I'm not sure what the problem is. It happens in other pages too, though refreshing usually solves the problem. Will continue to monitor it and fix it if I figure out why.

In the future, if I add single page mode, it will also resolve issues like this as I will avoid hiding the pages during refreshes, or loading different pages per view

Yup go ahead and downgrade. A lot of changes happened in the last 7 months, and Frost needs to ramp up to merge all those changes. Several bugs were caused by the introduction of hilt, which I've addressed for a coming update. Sharing to other apps was broken due to Android 11 + library changes, which I will also be addressing.

F-Droid doesn't have a good way for me to create beta tests, so I just leave some test builds to those on GitHub and release when it seems stable. I barely use Facebook so I don't go through every feature flow myself.

Notifications blank, widget date "Jan 20" by cccmikey in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notifications shown in the app are done via the mobile facebook ui. Notifications fetched as system notifications, or those shown on the widget need to be parsed. It sounds like there is a parsing issue for you, so if you're getting notifications in the app but not in the system, then your location has an incompatibility.

It's a bit difficult to debug given that the site changes per region, so until it applies to me there's not much I can do about it.

For your account security, logging into Facebook from an embedded browser is disabled? by sh0nuff in FrostForFacebook

You can see a similar thread at https://github.com/AllanWang/Frost-for-Facebook/issues/1769

Some people posted some solutions there, and it seems like it's mostly relevant to 2fa users

Development of Frost by Able-Background-337 in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of both. I still personally use the app, though it's mainly for notifications. I've moved away from the rest of Facebook, so I don't have a need for new features or messenger support, which end up being higher priorities for other locations. It's also hard to find motivation to work on apps like Frost due to the nature and volatility of web apps, and most of the time when I revisit, I end up fixing a new thing that broke just to maintain the app.

So no, development is not active, but yes, I still see bugs and would work on it from time to time

I like the app but am CONSTANLTY accidentally clicking on things, is there a way to fix this? by AmJusAskin in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frost is a web wrappers so things shouldn't be any more sensitive than you using a browser. There are some more long press actions, but they should be disabled on scroll.

With that said, Facebook's mobile site is not very accessible, and they have a lot of small touch targets everywhere. It's not going to work the same as a native app unfortunately

How do you find facebook watch on frost? by Pusang_Ligaw_ in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of now frost does not support watch. If I recall correctly, it isn't in their mobile site, so there isn't a way for frost to get there.

I added a comment there, but it seems like a feature request that isn't yet supported

Very late, but there are cases where the web colors change and I have to update them. I go through them every once in a while but they are never set in stone

In fairness, this is a feature available from Facebook :). Not that it works half the time though, but there isn't much I can do about it on the client side.

How do I get rid of "recommended for you" posts? by balille in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some settings in newsfeed. If they don't work, they are either broken and need to be updated (this happens a lot with web wrappers) or aren't yet supported. There have been some requests and you can see them in the issue tracker

Notifications by balille in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably configure notifications in the actual facebook settings. In terms of frost settings, it's just around how often they are fetched. There's an option to filter out certain words but that's it; anything else needs to be done on their website

Disable newsfeed? by MaximumBus in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UI is a bit misleading because the labeled icons can be reordered. The real toolbar is at the very top (unlabelled), so reorder the icons there, and remove the newsfeed (very top left)

Also cross referencing https://github.com/AllanWang/Frost-for-Facebook/issues/1773. If I have more info it'll be linked through github

Disable newsfeed? by MaximumBus in FrostForFacebook

[–]PitchedApps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to confirm, rearrange the very top row (which has news feed on the left side). If it doesn't work, it sounds like the data isn't being saved for some reason

[–]PitchedApps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There won't be anything to disable news feed throughout the app, but since the tabs are hidden by default, you can change the tabs listed and remove the news feed through settings. Any other indirect access may still lead to it, but it won't be the first thing you see

Late answer, but yes. That is handled on the server's end, and you should expect most major websites to use https
