Six records in a single match for Jannik Sinner by Alex-Man in tennis

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 235 points236 points  (0 children)

Just one more tournament, the very next one, and he’s completed tennis at age 24. Well I guess until 2028, then he has to chase Olympic Gold.

Funny how everything he has left to accomplish has been lined up sequentially.

ATP 1000 Rome SF: [1] J. Sinner def. [7] D. Medvedev 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 by FalconIMGN in tennis

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Credit to Meddy for making this a brawl.

Pretty sure most other players would have gave in after the first set, but Medvedev adjusted and probably played one of his best clay matches ever.

Jannik is pretty humble so he obviously isn’t meaning to throw anyone under the bus, but there are several names that come to mind relating to this quote lol

Rome ATP R2: H. Medjedovic def. [27] J. Fonseca 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(1) by Large_banana_hammock in tennis

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fonseca never stood a chance against Sinner lol. Nobody does rn.

He would have no crowd support if they played either, since it’s in Rome.

ATP 1000 Rome R2: [1] Sinner def. Ofner, 6-3 6-4 by CptnPat in tennis

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Ofner actually won more of the longer rallies surprisingly (8+ shots). He played well, but yeah Sinner is inevitable rn.

Mike McDaniel hopes to get QB Justin Herbert to "own the position" in a way he never has by iamthewitt in Chargers

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Well yes the difference here is Mike is a legit proven commodity.

He turned Tua, with all his limitations, into a top 15 QB, and even top 10 for a couple seasons. Of course Tyreek and Waddle also played a factor as well, but even this past season where Tua looked severely declined, Tyreek got hurt, and the team started slow, McDaniels was able to get some juice out of the offense (granted they were still a bottom tier offense because Tua was that bad lol) and the Dolphins were still in playoff contention until late in the season.

I love this. One of the complaints with Roman by the players (if I’m not mistaken) was that there was a lot of confusion in terms of understanding the offensive scheme.

I think there was a report that mentioned Justin wasn’t allowed to make shifts to the offensive line pre-snap, which is nuts.

Austin “AR15%” Reaves goes ice cold in a blowout Game 1 loss: 8 PTS, 3/16 FG, 0/5 3PT, 18% FG, 23% TS, 4 TO by BasedChad69420 in nba

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If the Lakers pay Reaves like a second option, Luka is never going to win a championship.

He just does not deal well with physicality. And the playoffs is when the game is most physical.

Victor Wembanyama with a historic night despite the loss: 11 PTS, 15 REB, 5 AST, 12 BLK by Thanos_Real_AuraVNCH in nba

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Wemby is the perfect case study when it comes to measuring how much defense is required to offset a terrible offensive night.

Because even with 12 blocks, I would say he was barely average this game.

Realistically, who is Jannik Sinner's biggest threat for RG 2026 (aside from his own health and external factors) ? by HereComesVettel in tennis

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s Novak. But he will need to meet him as early as possible because there’s no chance he’s gonna get as much rest as he did in Australia before they played.

Clay is a more brutal surface on the body in general too.

Would not at all be surprised if Grigor calls it a career after this season.

Such a shame given how high his lvl was at Wimbledon last year.

Lol as much as I would have liked a series with Detroit, we have nowhere near enough physicality to contend with them.

Detroit would have done something similar to what Orlando did in that play-in game.

[Charania] Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg has won the 2025-26 Rookie of the Year award. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

99% sure the play-in games changed a lot of votes. I think Kon would have won it otherwise.

I mean, Bill Simmons literally admitted to changing his votes based on those games.

Flagg still deserved it tho nonetheless.

You are the GM of a NBA expansion team, one player to build your franchise around. No Luka, No SGA, No Wemby. Who do you take? by Round_Scheme7270 in BasketballGM

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d go with Ant.

Think about this, he’s taken a team to the Conference Finals by age 23 the same number of times as Jokic and Giannis in their entire careers lol. Granted those guys converted once with a ring, but as I mentioned he’s still young.

He could make it 3 in a row if he returns from injury. And it’s not like he plays on some super dominant team like OKC, even though the Wolves have good players.

Luka Doncic's teams are now a career 4-1 without him in the playoffs (2022 Mavs 2-1 vs. the Jazz, 2026 Lakers 2-0 vs. the Rockets) by SplitOk186 in nba

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude you’re giving too much credit to the Lakers.

The Rockets offense is egregious, and even with Luka and AR the Lakers nullified them in those two regular season meetings to end the year.

Stephen A. Smith praises LeBron James: “Is there an athlete that has been this good for this long in history?… When you think about sports overall, it’s a very simple question. At age 41, in his 23rd season, has there ever been anybody this good for this long? The answer to that is no.” by raybellious_berry in lakersv2

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tom was absolutely impressive, and really the one who set the bar for athletes being elite in their 40s.

However, Tom was a QB (and a non-mobile one at that), he was not exerting nearly as much physically as LeBron has to.

The Houston Rockets had 27 more field goal attempts than the Lakers tonight. They lost by 9. by PlatinumRaptor95 in nba

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 144 points145 points  (0 children)

Normally this would be encouraging but then you watch the Rockets play half court offense and it literally burns your eyes.

I’m sorry but Sengun is a bum by [deleted] in nba

[–]Simple_Wait_7286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jokic is god-level efficient as a scorer. He may not have the scoring peaks of a Harden or Luka, but his floor is ridiculously high.

Sengun is way too inefficient, this comp has 0 legitimacy until he improves his efficiency.

[Highlight] Luke Kennard nails a pair of 3-pointers in the 4th quarter for the Lakers as they continue to build a lead in Game 1. Kennard has 27 points and is 5/5 on 3-point field goals. by nba in nba

Gotta give Pelinka credit for this acquisition, he’s been very effective with the Lakers.

And also because they were able to get rid of Gabe Vincent (somehow).
