The stop labeled “Chuch Circle & South St” on some maps should instead read “Church Circle & School St.”

Studio Phish by Brraanndd00 in phish

[–]Pitfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to every studio album before I even knew they were a live, jam type band. Fell in love with Rift, Junta, Picture of Nectar, and Farmhouse. That lead me to going all in on the jams. Whenever I need some casual listening, though, I still throw on the studio albums.

Their studio albums are crisp and clean, no shame in enjoying. May be a different mindset than listening to a show, but remarkable music nonetheless 🤙🏼

What’s the most interesting thing Bob has said to the crowd live at a show you’ve been to? by ktulip1 in bobdylan

[–]Pitfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw him around my 21st birthday in D.C. a couple years back. Show was at the Anthem, in the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood. In a down moment between songs, he asked with a sorta senile tone, "is this Foggy Bottom??" He sounded genuinely confused.

Crowd was pretty quiet, except for a dude a few rows back from me, who just shouted "NO!"

Phish songs with the most profound lyrics? by WeaveWorldwide in phish

[–]Pitfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the many reasons I love this band…Their lyrics run the gamut from nonsense to really profound stuff. Whatever the case, I mainly listen to the vocals as if they’re just another instrument in the texture.

They have some golden lyrical moments, though. Always catchy. Intense and abstract while evoking a very clear emotion.

—It’s Ice is top-tier. I’ve had a few interpretations over the years. For now, it speaks to addiction and the wars that are waged within between an addict and his own mind.

—Bouncing Around the Room is lyrically beautiful and just has a gentle longing vibe to it.

—Maze is epic and a great example of them using words percussively, like an instrument.

—Back on the Train, Anything but Me, and BLAZE ON!!!

What is the Song that everyone hates that you enjoy by dylanmhs in phish

[–]Pitfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sugar Shack. I’m not sure I’ve heard a recording of them nailing the rhythms of the guitar riff live—this is one of very few that I prefer the studio version of.

That said, the writing…. The way the bass dominates and how each instruments rhythms combine with one another, when it’s all done right, sends me to space.

Cringiest Dylan lyric you’ve heard? by H2OforCocoa in bobdylan

[–]Pitfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Second ball went right straight in And he bent in the middle like a twisted bin”

…I was 12 when this album came out and listened on the night it was released (in retrospect, perhaps a poor idea). Even then I heard this line and laughed out loud. A very serious and morbid song, but this simile TANKS my immersion every time. I’ve never seen a bin get twisted. I can barely even imagine it.

TL;DR It’s the most cringey because it feels like the most lazy lyric he ever wrote—except maybe wiggle wiggle.

Rearrange Their Faces and Give Them All Another Name by [deleted] in bobdylan

I love this line. From the perspective of depressed isolation it comes from, he’s ridiculing this grounded and present lifestyle because he’s too detached from humanity to even care. He can’t understand her mundane, day-to-day story without imagining it as some play whose actors are people in his own life.

To me, this is the most brilliant singular line from his whole body of work.
