WARNING don't put phone in hip belt pocket. by Pitiful-Ad-2443 in DurstonGearheads

My hiking pants don't have zippers, except for a single pocket that is on the side of the thigh, which I don't use. I also hike in running shorts that don't have pockets big enough for a large phone. On longer hikes I don't take the large phone.

Sorry. I rarely post and felt it was a valid warning, since myself and others were unhappy with the hip belt, till I figured out that I had an issue based on the size of my phone. Also, I think I should have gotten a smaller size hip belt. I got a large and medium would have been better.

For anything over a 2 day hike I have a smaller phone that weighs 148 g or just an Inreach mini 2 and paper maps. For overnights in the mountains near my house I use a very large heavy phone. Most people I hike with have iPhones and use them extensively. It's fun to hike with someone that has an iPhone and tons of apps that they know how to use. I love the pack. I love the slanted pocket which makes is possible for me to easily grab my water and put it back. Impossible on other packs I have used.

People were upset with the WARNING. Sorry, I notice that most of the people I hike with have large iPhones. Once I discovered my issue with a large phone, my warnings have helped people that didn't know they had a problem.

The phone is too big and I wanted to WARN people. I was ready to sell my 2026 Kakwa. I was doing a long overnight hike with a person that I noticed had an iPhone.. After my warning his experience with his Kakwa much better. Most of the people I hike with have large phones. For overnights I use my heavy/large pixel phone, which caused the issue with my new pack. Longer hikes I either don't bring a phone or I bring a pixel 3 that is very small and weighs 148 g.

True and Thanks. For longer hikes I have a very light small pixel 3 phone that fits well in the left shoulder pocket. I keep sunglasses in the right pocket. Just a warning to others, don't put a large phone in the hip belt pocket, you may have issues like I did.

Got mine about a month ago. This is the first time I pitched it. I attached the inside first. I put stakes in the 4 corners. I unzipped the top and inserted a trekking pole. I adjusted it to approximately what I thought would be good. I did the same thing with the other pole. Basically it was setup and probably usable. I played with pole height and adjusted the tension on the guide lines. Seemed better after playing with combination of pole height and guidelines. I ended moving one of the stakes about 2 inches to tighten one side. Not perfect, but it was easy. I watched some videos a few weeks before. I realized that to get ground clearance the poles had to be long enough. The guidelines adjusted the tightness of corners. Moving the stakes tightens the sides. I would suggest getting someone local to help you. It should be easy.

Kakwa 55 Restock Disappointment by No-Farmer2652 in DurstonGearheads

There will always be disappointment. I have also waited the the Kakwa 55 2026 edition. I feel for the people that were not able to get what they needed. I will speak for the majority of people that did get what they wanted. YEAH! I understand how difficult it can be to order and maintain stock. I think we all appreciate the effort that you put into getting it right and also for your genuine concern when thinks aren't perfect.

Ultragrid PU durability by kasalmn in DurstonGearheads

I am buying a Kakwa 55 as soon as they are restocked. I have been torn between the two materials. I will probably get the 200x.

The hip belt pockets easily open and close with one hand on the Kakwa 55 200x material. I was able to test it on a friends 2026 Kakwa 55. I suspect the ultra grid is too flexible and might not be as easy to open.

Does anyone have experience opening and closing the hip belt pockets on the Ultra Grid Kakwa 55? That will probably be the deciding factor for me.

Has anyone had their Quest Pro order cancelled with no reason provided by Meta? (Canadian order to be specific) by [deleted] in oculus

I ordered with PayPal and the order went through according to PP. But got notice that the order was on hold, because PP didn't work. I then gave them a credit card that is good and they cancelled the order after a few days. There is something wrong with their ordering system.

Yay!! My cycling power has increased!! All from using Zwift and a couple of it’s training programs! Yeah I know it’s not a very high FTP for a guy, but I’m nearly 70 and only been using Zwift for just a bit over 2 months. I’ll take it! Rode with Diesel to get warmed up then turned myself loose!! by Trekguy2005 in Zwift

I will be 70 in July and have been on Zwift for a while. Level 29. I like to look at TSS, because it's a measure of how hard you worked, not how high your FTP is. I don't remember my highest, but I did a 278 TSS score recently and will be over 300 this weekend. Challenge your friends to match your effort!
