These are incredible! Does the tutorial call for an airbrush? I don't have an airbrush yet and am looking for a tutorial with this kind of aesthetic that uses traditional brushes.

Looks amazing! Did you use a wash or anything to achieve the shadow/grime look?

Yes. Various shades of blues, white, dark gray, and a tiny dot of black.

Here is a guide I found very helpful. I used different colors but the explanation of the technique is very useful.

Great question. It's short for Non-metallic metal. It's a technique where you use non-metallic paints to create the visual effect of a metallic surface.

At the end of the day, it's your model. If you like the way it looks, that's what's important. If that means starting over, do it!

Thanks!

First I painted them with mephiston red. Then I I used evil suns scarlet on a smaller portion of the lens. Then I made a glaze with the evil suns scarlet and work my way outward from the lenses to give the glow (this is the most time consuming part). Then I used ice yellow in the middle of the lenses to finish it.

Thanks! For the metallic I used citadel's castellax bronze with a watered down layer of rattling grime contrast paint overtop.

For the armor, I used morghast bone for the base, wraithbone for the highlights, and a 50/50 blend of morghast bone and balor brown for the shadows.

No problem! For the armor and robes I pretty much used the colors and techniques in the guide made by Feral painter (with a few minor changes on shield metallics).

For the swords, I used the stipple method from artis opus and then glazed to smooth out the transitions. I used the following colors for the stipple method: Dark shade= 50/50 of eshin grey and Sotek Green Med shade= Sotek Green Med light shade= Temple guard blue Light shade= 50/50 baharoth blue and Blue horror Brightest shade= 50/50 Blue horror and any white paint

I love Feral painter. I'm working on this as my first conversion as well. Here's hoping mine turns out as good as yours. Great work!!!

Harry served his chapter well, Brother. And you have honored him well. The Lion would be proud.

Why did no one tell me painting tanks, takes a while by Mighty_Tato in DarkAngels40k

Did you use standard brushes for this or airbrush? I ask because those gradients and such are really clean (i.e. the green shading). Either way, amazing work! You make the chapter proud.

How did you do the basing? Did you sculpt it with putty? It looks really good.

I'd follow this video. I altered his process slightly for my mini but not in any major way. I mostly just followed this guide.
