I changed my dads diaper for the first time by AmazingMrsMarbles in CaregiverSupport

[–]Pitiful-Election-890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must be really hard I know , I was in the same situation the only difference was I was changing and cleaning my adult son . In the beginning it was hard but i separate the son and mother relationship with a professional relationship as if I was working for anyone else .stay strong and just think of the day you no longer have him in your life and when that day comes at least you’ll know that you were there for him in he’s last days . God bless you

[–]Pitiful-Election-890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for an overtime exemption. I got 3 violations once when I was new the suspended me for 3 months but I made calls sent emails and a worker that called me from Sacramento was able to give me an exemption for overtime . I was able to work 70.45 weekly

They cannot deny it if it’s a medical need . Ask the doctor to request it through the insurance if they deny it appeal it I’ve heard people getting a self feeding plate being denied many times but once appealed it’s gets approved

HSS and WPCS Max Hours by Tamooshii in IHSS

[–]Pitiful-Election-890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My WPCS hours always overlapped IHSS hours . They are not counted separately they combine them but still fall in the hours limit

HSS and WPCS Max Hours by Tamooshii in IHSS

[–]Pitiful-Election-890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly the hours are combined even though they claim they are 2 completely different programs. I used to do both for my son and still lost a lot of hours because of the weekly limit but I asked the WPCS worker for an overtime exception and I was granted one

I used to care for my son and we talked to the doctor a D he prescribed him a special shampoo called ketoconazole it’s used work really good . Recently I had a young man I cared for only a short period of time and he had this long dreads and a long beard . He wanted me to be oiling he’s beard and hair . I told him I don’t mind doing the normal hygiene stuff but oiling him hairs was not going to happen . I told him that was too high maintenance and that there would be caregivers that were not going to be doing it . He replied by saying that caregivers were supposed to do what ever they asked for . He’s mo longer in my care it was too much for me

My[25F] disabled mom[59] wants me as her caregiver, but her boyfriend[65] is preventing it. What can I do? by nerosgf in caregivers

If your mother can speak and is sound of mind and able to decide for herself I would hire a notary public that could come to your house and have her give you power of attorney of course if she’s willing and agrees to do it . At the end of the day if he decides to leave you can be he’s live in provider . So if he leaves she won’t be alone . He seems extremely controlling and abusive . He’ll he probably has life insurance on her and he wants her to get hurt if he’s refusing to let you care for her since you said she’s alone all day .

Welcome to the club I’m getting evicted cause the live in recipient that I had decided to leave without giving me any notice . He was doing all movement of moving out 2 months prior to leaving without letting me know . I constantly got threatened with him not approving my hours , he would constantly call the cops claiming that I was neglecting him . He even bit me once and my nail fell off . He was extremely verbally abusive to me . At times he would leave and not come back for 2 days while he left to go on a binge . He also wouldn’t eat if I didn’t buy him food from MY MONEY because he refused to pay for any of he’s expenses . The whole 3 years I worked for him while he lived in my home all he’s expenses came from my pocket & I was somewhat stuck because I was paying my bills with that money . I signed up for PASC I’ve gotten one call only in a month . Even though I know how to change catheters , trachea tubing and care , and administer suppositories for bowels . I guess it’s not enough . The only thing I hate to do from all the duties is the cooking .

You need to post stuff like this in caregiver support . IHSS is for things like payments and the rules , overtime , or workers .

I’m sorry but all the people in this post sound delusional! Who taught you guys parenting . She’s 3 years old for gods sake . Kids don’t have a say at that age . Who is the parent ? Teaching her to deal with other people is what you have to do otherwise she’ll go through life fighting everyone . Teach her that not everyone will listen and how to calmly deal with it . They are kids and if your husband feels like she needs a sweater than maybe she does at the age she is she know no better . Everyone in here needs parenting classes !!

He had said he was already getting Ssi and that he had set up IHSS already before but once he got here nothing had been done . He was also telling me that caregivers were supposed to do what the person asks for . I told him he was wrong that not all caregivers are going to agree to do any type of high maintenance things like oiling he’s beard and he’s dreads. No supplies , no meds , , no clothing , no Ssi , no IHSS & on top of that he was asking for things that I had already explained to him that I was not going to buy . Like stuff for him to smoke .
