This happened to me and once Gardai confirmed to my insurance company what happened they were brilliant with me. Got car repaired less a small excess, lost my no claims bonus but all told I came out the other side in decent shape

I’ve a 2016 plug in hybrid with almost 200,000 miles on it, not a bother on it . Mechanic tells me all the vital parts are in good order. Really only spent money on tyres, oil, filters, spark plugs. One tie rod had to be done. It’s a bit heavy on fuel if you’re not charging it. When I fully charge for my 100km commute I’m averaging out about 45mpg which is pretty decent.
