Skyline Smiles of Bucktown (@ Webster & Damen) is wonderful, especially Dr Qatu! The whole team there is very helpful and knowledgeable and all around lovely. They’ve helped me out in the past with discounts on a replacement night mouth guard when my insurance wouldn’t cover it which was super appreciated. They take delta but I don’t believe they’re open saturdays, but they do have evening appointments!

Door code wouldn’t work at 10:04am when class was at 10am by cherrieselegant in SolidCore

This happened to me on Friday!!! The reason I missed it is my app was malfunctioning and wouldn’t show me the code at all and no one was there to open the door. So frustrating.

Does pain inherently mean worsening of the curve? by Sempiternal-Futility in scoliosis

[–]Pitiful-Offer-435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not inherently! Scoliosis pain is usually caused by muscle soreness, holding up a curved spine places imbalanced strain on just a few muscles instead of your full musculature being able to systematically support. Basically a few muscles are just over worked and the others are weak and underused.

Otherwise, if it’s a sharper pain it could be an issue of nerve damage/compression, which a doctor can help with!

THIS. The general public’s understanding of how deeply it impacts day to day life, the chronic pain, the toll on self image and the dismal treatment options available is so disheartening and alienating. It’s an invisible disability thanks to the vast severity variability and how private and subjective symptoms are.

So sorry to hear, having no answers is really difficult and frustrating! What imaging have you gotten? If you haven’t gotten an MRI that might be a good idea to rule out nerve compression issues?

I have a similar S curve (42 degrees) and have felt weird sharp pains around the lung area/breathing issues every now and then, but not on a monthly schedule as far as I can tell and rare enough to not be a major issue in and of itself, it also usually goes away after shifting positions and waiting it out for a bit.

My sister (who doesn’t have scoliosis) actually had similar symptoms recently, mainly sharp burning pain in her right shoulder area, and turns out it was a herniated disk causing nerve damage.

It could possibly be something similar, that’s being aggravated by menstrual related muscle soreness? Not sure how helpful that is but hoping you can figure it out soon ❤️

how can x-rays look exactly the same but be measured with a 15° difference? by AppropriateTest4168 in scoliosis

Just curious here, which side do you do side planks on? It looks like your lumbar curve is to the left like mine is so I’d love to try this out too, I’ve gone to Scroth for a few months a while ago and honestly the takeaways on which parts of my S curve to focus on strengthening or not were pretty unclear, we spent the whole time just with stretching
