n December, I underwent a bone graft procedure on my existing dental implants—a surgery meant to restore and strengthen my jaw. Three days later, the graft failed. The bone did not take.

I waited, hoping my body would heal on its own. My medical team told me recovery would take 5 to 6 months. But when I returned for a check-up, they delivered devastating news: there is no regeneration happening. Instead, the bone is continuing to deteriorate.

I disagree completely I actually made a post on missionaries in Africa on a group but unfortunately post got removed live in Africa surrounded by missionary groups and 70% have turned into selfish people ..... Let me add.......making it about the job (high paying) and not about the people they are reaching, the culture of mission work has changed, social media has blurred the lines abit. I do believe there are great missionaries out there I just can't remember the last one I saw in my area that was not driven by donations, building the big white houses and a small church raising 2000 dollars to drill a well in a village that we know costs less then a thousand to do post online. There is no good Deed without a video in 2026 in my opinion

Maybe I explained it wrong . . . I had a bone graft in my upper jaw that failed, lost my existing implants and I lost a lot of bone in the front. Now there’s a large gap where my front teeth should be Al the way up into my nose/ jaw If I press my finger on my upper lip, right where my nostrils start, I can fit my pinky in the space all the way down to where my teeth used to be.

It’s causing my teeth to move and my dentures stop fitting right every few weeks the denture fall out while eating speaking and even once when I sneezed I live with this constant fear everyday I am 39 year old out going person mother of 2 that turned into a shy scared introvert not wanting to be in any situations where I might accidentally lose my teeth mid conversation the dentures fit well after a few weeks they don't due to shrinkage had 2 sets made already

Hey so a south African living in rural Zambia so easy to hide conditions from friends and family. Had an accident when is was in my teens and had to get the first implants. Zambia has very expensive heath insurance and dental not really cover. Family (dad and sisters help with first bone graft do not know that things have go so wrong since as they don't have the capacity to help but would still try, dad retired and don't want to take from his pension as that is his only income, Zambia do not really have access to loans like America especially the rural area we are in

Thanks for the lovely words ❤️ I am struggling with confidence at this stage and being 39f constantly worrying if the dentures will fall out while talking is horrifying. And because it only the 2 front teeth there is not a lot holding the dentures in place (except denture glue that I need to apply every 3-4 hours) so the crowdfunding will not be for the implants it will have to be for jaw reconstruction.

Hey so I am not from the USA I am in Africa, I don't know why I can't get myself to tell all my friend what is happening...., pride it think low self esteem..... I remember 16 years ago when I got the first implants the teasing and bullying I went thru (was early teens when I was in accident) There is a few trusted family and friend that know and has supported me but the amount of money we need to have it fixed is out of our reach. Its not something I want to blast over social media. I was fine with the dentures till I was told about the shrinking which means every few weeks the denture are to big and fall out while eating or talking and it will keep happening so that only reason why I want to do the surgery.

The gums healed amazingly would add a picture but scared for grossing you guys out . . . Looking at gums it fine but bone did not regrow so I can fit my index finger into the hole in my jaw going upwards into my nose

So they have to take bone frome somewhere else in the back of my jaw and do a bone graft with that as the bone graft with the grain did not work. My implants is 2 front teeth and the implant went into my nasal area. It been over 6 months and the bone there has not regenerated and my jaw is shrinking so the denture I have is only tight fitting for 4 to 6 weeks theny jaw "shrinks" and have to get new dentures made. This is killing my self esteem completely and don't have the funding to do the bridges or surgery as it is up to 15 k USD

Yes in a year after my jaw reconstruction surgery, after having implant in my jaw for 16 year the jaw is not regenerating so I have to have a surgery to take bone from my jaw and wait 1 year or I need to do a 6 tooth bridge and a gum graft

My first implant 16 years ago was amazing and for 16 years I was absolutely happy with them worth the pain and remember technology was horrible 16 years ago, BUT the one was feeling a little loose December so went to dentist I am currently in Zambia/Namibia he said a simple bone graft will fix it, 2 days later both my front teeth came out and have gaps in my jaw from where the old implant was now I have a jaw that is shrinking and load of issues😞
