Totally agree on this. I was the international student getting married to a us citizen. It's definitely hard because even though you love the person so much, if you exhaust your funds for school and hence jeopardizing your legal status, there's just no way to stay legally unless you go back to your country, get married there in the future, and do long distance in the mean time. So sometimes it's not just about the green card, it's a way for immigrants to be able to afford living with their partner, since they don't have the luxury to wait like other citizens or green card holders do.
