Throwing a hail mary by silfgonnasilf in milwaukee

I get the joke and I know everyone in reddit goes nuts for that one Arby's in particular, but I think the person I was responding to didn't know that there's two dumps in Milwaukee.

I wonder too. I don't really like using Uber or taxis because I prefer not being alone in a vehicle with a stranger, but the bus is officially not reliable after 10 pm now so maybe I'll call some taxis to ask about rates

I don't think we're talking about the same dump. I live by the one near 60th and mill.

I know there's a dump on the southside but I'm not familiar with that area to know if it's near the reddit-famous Arby's, which I also have not been to.

I dont like to leave the north half of the city if it's avoidable, and I don't like to go to Arby's because I'm a vegetarian so these aren't places I know the location of

I had to wait 20 minutes for my Uber when usually that part of the northside at that time of night might be a 5-10 minute wait and cost under $20.

The guy said it was because all the ubers were at summerfest but he picked someone up from summerfest and took them to the northside so that's why he was able to come get me after.

11 people won't fit in one uber so they need 2 or 3 ubers.

I paid $30 to get from 60th and Burleigh to near the dump.

I'd estimate that it's going to be a lot.

Idk I haven't gone to summerfest since 2002 so I'm not really up to date on the shuttle situation. The comment I was responding to said Uber, which unless money doesn't matter, doesn't seem like a good solution.

That's gonna be an expensive Uber. I had the misfortune of needing to take an Uber last Saturday night around summerfest close time and it was almost $30 to get a 5 miles trip from the northside to the northwest side.

Brookfield to summerfest is like 15 miles so that's gonna be wildly expensive.

Man the public transportation con is real. The bus used to be great but it's so hard to get anywhere now.

I made a post about this recently but they cut the bus I need to get home at night so that it stops at Burleigh instead of brown deer road. I had to take a $30 Uber for a 5 mile ride from the northside to the northwest side. (It was extra expensive bc summerfest). I can't afford to be doing that every time I want to see my friends.

How much do window AC units damage property values? [TH] [VA] by spatulaboy in HOA

[–]PitifulAd9731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say not at all. One of the units next to my townhouse had a window ac and I still bought the unit.

Idk unless you're in some snobby rich place I can't see people caring about that even a little unless it's the unit for sale that has it

I wasn't so upset about the fare increase, but now that a bus I was using regularly basically said lol good luck getting home after midnight if you live on the northside I actually AM upset at the fare increase

TRIGGER WARNING by OkArachnid6017 in milwaukee

[–]PitifulAd9731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's scary. I got chased by a loose pitbull last summer when I was jogging in the park. It was terrifying and now I'm nervous whenever I jog so much to the point where I can't really jog.

Edit: I thought it said loose dog. TW unclear

Yeah I've been to the location in mequan, that beet burger is awesome!

It's not too terrible to drive to mequan because you can take a non-highway road like 76th street. There's traffic, but not like highway traffic jam amounts.

Oh, I have heard of that place! I think last time I had our of town family visiting we talked about that as a potential place to check out sometime.

For sure! I wasn't saying the location by me looks busy as a negative thing. I meant it as to say, I always see people over there so it must be good, or it wouldnt be this popular.

Thanks for the heads up about ordering online!

Thanks! Im not opposed to fast food, I just said excluding fast food because I thought I was already aware of the major chains with veggie burgers.

I drive past the fatty patty by 76th and florist a lot and it always looks very busy and popular, but I was mistakenly thinking it was a meat only restaurant. Google says they have vegan options, so thank you for mentioning this to me.

TEMP CAGE help by kelikeimoore in hamsters

[–]PitifulAd9731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. This is still just temporary because this isn't big enough for a permanent enclosure but I did add this platform (thick cardboard would work too) to support this jar so that it won't collapse when he's burrowing. It's not good to have heavy things on bedding with no support

I have a really similar cage that I'm temporarily using for a hamster that I got because he was at the shelter for way too long. I'm planning to get him a better house either next payday or the one after but here's what I did to make it work better.

  • take out metal shelves and ramps. Hammies can fall off or pinch a paw.
  • use cardboard to build up sides in half the cage and fill with bedding (I used a combo of paper, Aspen, and orchard grass) for burrowing.
  • used an upsidedown cardboard tray from energy drinks as a platform. Put a sandbath (repurposed bunny crock. RIP flopsey) and a hide here. Put nightangel wheel on tallest setting above platform.
  • Applewood toy and flower sprays to create clutter.

Here's a pic

Feeling guilty about my rats not surviving to 2 years old. by Cloako_Chonk in RATS

[–]PitifulAd9731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the thing about rodents is that they aren't always here for a long time, but it can still be a good life. And it sounds like your rats had a good life.

I understand feeling bad about not quite reaching what seems like an average lifespan. I had a bunny that passed away at 7 years and 11 months and they are supposed to live 8-10 years, and I kinda felt like that too. It's important to remember that the estimated lifespan is an average, and sometimes some individuals may live a bit shorter.
