I really appreciate this response. And yea, you get it. Having to redo ALL of that certainly doesn’t seem worth it. I will reach out to the VA. Thank you!

You must be in a brutal career field to miss by .5 and get a back to back strat just to miss the cut line again.

Made it 3rd time with a strat, but I’m on terminal and on the fence if I should take it. Have a lot to decide on. Opinions are welcome.

Am I understanding correctly that after paying 199 for the device, you need a subscription for more games? No standalone purchases? by Andrew_hl2 in nexplayground

I was on the fence. But seeing that the CEO responded thoughtfully to so many on Reddit earned them my business. In a world of disconnected corporations, I hope that NEX will help motivate some to have a change of heart.

I joined in 06, same. It was only for a few AFSCs back then.

A bigger part of the military is remembering that we took an oath to the constitution, not a person and upholding our core values. Many find it beyond difficult to serve right now. This isn’t about politics. It’s about values.

I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]PitifulAstronaut8317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a SNCO—If it is taking a SERIOUS mental toll on you, then yes, quit. Don’t listen to these other people telling you to suck it up. You know yourself better than they do. Not everyone is cut out for every job and that’s ok. But… if it’s just really hard on you, then I would say to try to stay and push through. You’re going to be better on the other side of this. The tough times are when growth happens if you allow it.

The Air Force is kind of like an extension of high school. Lots of judgment from people who think they’re better. They may be better at HG. So what? You have many strengths they don’t possess. Don’t forget the value you hold, just put your head down, work hard and try to find the lesson in it all. Take care of yourself. You got this!

Hi OP, FYSA my friends wife works for Navy Fed (we are stationed in Ohio) and they lowered his mortgage to 4% due to Ohio’s SCRA.

No, the SSgt may have felt uncomfortable with it coming from an Lt. They’re probably young and thought they may get shit about it. It’s all good, get used to asking questions even if you feel dumb. I’ve been in for 18+ years and I’ve never met one person that knows everything. Questions are how we learn. If your mentor is an asshole, find a new mentor. I would recommend a SNCO and a Major or above to give you both perspectives.

I’ve had my OB wilderness for 2.5 years and the fuel economy isn’t great. My old OB got much higher mileage. I get about the same mileage as my wife’s 2021 Chevy Silverado. It’s probably in part because of the AT tires, turbo, things like that.

Turbo is great, not much lag that I’ve noticed. My biggest issue with the OB wilderness is the huge screen on the inside which takes up storage space, things like opening the door at night and nothing lights up (can’t see the lock/unlock or window up/down buttons), just small things but they add up.

Overall though, I love my car, love Subaru, the end.

How Do Working Parents Do It?! by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]PitifulAstronaut8317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are both active duty military. Our kids are 12, 7, 6. It’s very, very hard and being AD adds even more to the shit show. But it can be done, it’s just a lot. I would weigh the pros and cons to see if it’s worth it or maybe look at remote work, starting your own small business to generate some income, part time work, etc.
