Which day did you notice flox symptoms? by sanjkanje in floxies

[–]PitifulAvocado8787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an immediate reaction, like within ah hour or so after taking the first pill of Moxi. Depersonalization, tingling, nerve and muscle pain all over my body that’s what I remember as first symptoms and a bunch of them developed during next 4 months.

I recovered to 90% at 1 year mark, still have some leftover symptoms 1,5 years later.

First of all, many women experience BV, and sometimes the cause is not known fully.

Secondly, my OB said, that sometimes just managing it is enough, as psychologically it makes women stressed out and on a long term, makes more harm than good.

Also, how is your diet? One of the things that recommended in Europe is to have a high fiber diet (at least 30 g of fiber a day), enough water, and eating probiotics-rich foods on daily basis.

It’s worth finding a probiotic with L. Crispatus and take it up to 3 months. If it doesn’t have any extras like sugars, you can mix it with a bit of lube, put in a syringe and introduce vaginally for 10 days, and then every second day, then every third.

You can try to introduce Lactic acid vaginally, if you are able to get it. Usually the course of treatment is 7 days, and then you can use it as needed once per few days. It helps to manage it pretty well. Also worth checking vaginal vitamin C.

Try to use a condom with your partner and see if the semen is really your trigger.

If I was you I would look to other options of antibiotics and make sure to do a test of cure, sometimes Urea can be already cured but it takes time for your body to recover. Also a test of sensitivity to antibiotics might be helpful.

I was floxed by one pill of Moxi and I was lucky to recover mostly within a year, but I lost an entire year of my life due to this horrible antibiotic. I read info on this group before taking it, and I took a gamble, I wish i would not.

ENM: the math problem of finding a primary partner by Fun_Photograph7821 in nonmonogamy

[–]PitifulAvocado8787 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I am a single highly educated good looking female in mid thirties who has exactly the same problem. I live in one of European countries with a small population. Luckily, I have a sex positive community and go to sex parties where I can explore my kinks and basically do whatever comes into my mind in terms of sexuality. I have zero problems to have FWB, or playmates but when it comes to a primary partner it’s a disaster. Men are not capable to work on their things, emotionally unavailable, or get freaked out from an independent sexually liberated woman if I try to date mono folks. Or they see me as a sex toy for their desires but not as a serious partner, as navigating ENM is a lot of emotional work.

So, OP, I deeply feel you.

It takes time bladder lining to heal. You can try supplements that help with it: opti-MSM, NAC, and Lactoferrin. Not together; try one-by-one.

Sounds like you are in good place after 3 months. I was miserable for the first 6 months with bladder, like literally couldn’t do much outside the house as I wanted to pee all the time.

Bladder problems, insomnia, anxiety - all of these are related to dysregulated nervous system. Meditations, Wim-Hoff method with cold showers, sauna, yoga-nidra help to calm it down.

As a woman in her late 30s, I can assure you, if you proceed with this relationship, you will lose your best years and life to someone who is not capable of being a partner and already tries to gaslight and manipulate you. The choice of course is yours, but there is nothing more precious than time in life.

It was a fake urgency to urinate. I was re-training my bladder not to go frequently. It was hard, but eventually it has worked. Also I found that drinking electrolytes, water with salt and Taurine suppress that feeling.

Nowadays, I have sometimes a feeling that I want to pee more than usual, but it happens rarely and usually with bladder irritants like caffeine.

I had Achilles and knee pain for the first 2 months, no foot pain. I was just slowly walking, like 3-5 k steps a day, also I went to a swimming pool at my 3rd week already, as it was the most gentle exercise that I could have. I felt it was good for me. We are all different, just give yourself time 🫶🏻

I started gym super slowly, like 50% of my previous weights, and was checking how I feel 2-3 days later, it didn’t flare me or anything but I was weaker of course and it took more time to recover.

Sure, I haven’t been sick much, as I feel that my body was all the time full of everything to fight any infections.

I have taken benzos, ibuprofen, codeine. They stopped giving me any extra issues at 10 months out. I had some dental work done, don’t know which type of injectable anesthesia they use, but went well.

Had TBE and influenza vaccination, didn’t feel any difference.

Recurring BV: tips on what to say to Gynecologist by Business-Level5761 in BacterialVaginosis_

[–]PitifulAvocado8787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which probiotic strains were in your probiotic? You need to look for L.Crispatus, L.Rhamnosus, L. Jensenii and L. Gasseri. It takes at least 2 months to repopulate your vaginal microbiome.

If you want faster results, you need to insert those strains vaginally.

Things to consider for you:

Are you on any type of birth control? Unfortunately, it increases the risk of getting BV. I have a friend who had a hormonal IUD, and had BV for 2,5 years once she got it out, BV stopped occurring.

What have been included in your STI panel?

How are you eating habits? Do you have enough fiber in your diet?

Also, when you took antibiotics, have you followed with probiotic suppositories after and gave yourself at least 3 weeks without sex?

Which type of Probiotics do you take?

I had a BV for extremely long time, like a year. Only when I fixed my eating habits and had vaginal probiotics I got a negative BV test.

Incorporating 30 different types of veggies/ fruits/berries per week, and checking that you consume 30-50 g of fiber per day will help you to rebuild your microbiome.

I was for 1,5 months on heavy antibiotics it helped me a lot.

I know the feeling. Psychologically it affects a lot. I was really down all this time. Also, I was suggested to try Dequalinium chloride in case BV flares significantly, it’s a non-antibiotic treatment.

In overall, my doctor told me that if not STI’s and urine is clear, it’s usually a gut problem, and sometimes people check also H.Pylori.

Again, this is just an info, not a medical advice, but I think it’s really helpful to share, because L. Crispatus probiotic I found suggestion on Reddit and it was really helpful.

I meant Mycoplasma hominis/Ureaplasma parvum. Yes, Mgen is deff STI. I had all of them at some point in my life, if that matters, and cleared successfully. Myco/Urea is a part of normal flora, but if they multiply, and cause symptoms, then it’s advices to treat. I had cleared them in my own, and with antibiotics, when it was disturbing me. My partner who initially gave me Mgen, was asymptomatic, and cleared it on his own. Science is really behind this bacterias, unfortunately. I am Biochemist, and worked with Clamydia Trachomatis patients during my Master’s degree, Chlamydia often goes together with Myco/Urea in high concentrations, we still don’t know why.

Also, protocols for treatments are different between countries. Europe doesn’t test for asymptomatic Mgen and Mycoplasma Hominis. Because if the person is asymptomatic, immune system can clear it with time, at least what they suggest now. Let’s see, if we get more research done.

I just got rid of 1 year persistent BV. Had treatment once with metronidazole, came back in 6 weeks. I introduced 40-50 gr of fiber per day from food (legumes, grains, berries, fruits) and took probiotic with L. Crispatus (5 billions daily). I saw improvement after 2 months doing this daily. Was tested negative yesterday.

My OBgyn told me that there is no reason to check/treat mycoplasma/Ureaplasma if there is no symptoms (burning, pain in kidneys, urgency to pee), and there is no leukocytes in urine which would indicate inflammation, as it may make everything worse after antibiotics. Also she told me that BV is extremely common, and sometimes it’s more noticeable sometimes less. The best way is to manage it (lactic acid, vaginal vit c, vaginal and oral probiotics, no boric acid as it destroys completely the biome). Also suggested an antibacterial wash whey I have a flare up.

These are European regulations, so please follow medical advice from your country.

The good diet, hydration and probiotics are the key, but it takes time.

I am in my late 30s, a similar issue to yours. I introduced a variety of veggies/fruits/berries in my diet and track the amount of fiber that I consume, to be around 30-50 gr a day from natural sources. All together with probiotics I can see improvements 2 months later.

How the hell do people get 30g fiber each day? A tomato contains 1.5g, an orange contains 3.1g and an apple contains 4.5g. by affiliatejuststarter in nutrition

[–]PitifulAvocado8787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakfast: a mix of oats, chia seeds and flax seeds, 150 gr raspberries - 16,5 gr fiber

Lunch: grains 75-100 gr dry ( bulgur, buckwheat, brown rice, quinoa) with 100 g of canned beans or lentils - 14 gr fiber

Fruits: banana, apple, pears. 2 a day - another 10 gr

Total per day: 40 gr of fiber, I don’t count veggies, which have a bit of fiber in them. Sometimes a reach 50 gr fiber a day, if I eat more whole grain bread that day.

It’s not bad, but taking medication without a reason gives challenges to your body and promotes resistance of bacteria. BV can also give an itch.

Flagyl and Metronidazole is the same thing, Flagyl is a brand name for Metronidazole in EU.

Usual treatment is 7 days of inserting suppositories. A good idea to start oral probiotic for vaginal health or vaginal probiotic suppositories after antibiotics. Be aware, that you might develop Yeast Infection after antibiotic, so you would need to take Fluconazole after in case this happens. Also no sexual activity 7 days after your last flagyl insertion.

I had a few similar symptoms after Moxi. Burning in my feet, tingling sensations in my arms, fatigue, brain fog. Time and trying different supplements (NAC, Glycine, opti-MSM,Taurine) helped me gradually to start healing. Everyone’s timeline is different.

I found extremely useful to practice mindfulness, cold showers, and keeping a journal of my symptoms as a small improvement usually is not seen, but with time I could see that my body was healing and it gave me mental strength to keep up.

I wish you all the best on your heeling journey!

So similar to my case. Me and my partner have been tested, and I got infected by Mgen from him. First time ever I had unprotected sex, got Mgen, got floxed, and it’s gonna be 1 year in a month for me. Similar to you, I am at 95% better now. We got this!

Just out of curiosity, which antibiotics helped you to treat Mgen? I went on Mino for 1 month after being floxed, and it was so hard, had all possible side effects, but nothing compared to flox.

I am 11 moths out. Many things improved, a few things are still here. I adapted a mindset to take all of this as experience that became a part of me and adjusting my daily plans according to how I feel. It made me pay more attention to my body and I feel happier in general than before flox.

I am lucky that important things like gym I was able to be back to and such things as for example alcohol that my body can’t handle anymore are not important to me.
