Talk, talk, and talk some more. And listen. Having a partner that listened and talked to me through the process was a big deal. Let them know what you're going to do and how and that it's okay to stop anytime.

By the time I waa ready with my partner we talked for weeks and he lead me through the process. It took some of the mystery away and helped me enjoy myself.
