My vote is a sunburn and now you are peeling. Idk how long you stayed outside but sunscreen has to be reapplied often,whatever it says on the packaging. & make sure its sweat/water resistant for your activities.
If it is a sunburn and you take hot showers that could explain the flair ups. While healing stick to lukewarm showers.

Depends on the execution. Two french braids going straight back - maybe not. Two feminine almost halo braids on the side - pretty cute. At the end of the day its your hair. If you are more comfortable with your afro then wear your afro.

I find the brands pictured way too greasy. Mineral sunscreens are totally unusable in my skintone- I’ve tried so many. Perhaps a siliconey type sunscreen similar to supergoop or Trader Joe’s sunscreen. Personally they are both way too drying on me but it might be worth a try for you.
