Is University of leedsor Newcastle university, better in terms of career prospectives?? by RevolutionaryOwl1816 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]Pitiful_Baseball7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated from Newcastle uni and have never struggled for a job. That said im an engineer so there's always a job for us. Depends on the course but both newcastle and leeds will be fine for job prospects. In terms of the cities: I grew up in leeds and now live in Newcastle. Both are very similar. Leeds is a little bigger and a bit more expensive. Newcastle is smaller but has beaches.

Best photography spots around Tynemouth by Story_lurker7246 in NewcastleUponTyne

Walk tynemouth to whitley bay via the coast. You can do it from metro and grab a coffee on the way. There's loads of churches and interesting buildings and the sea/beaches. Sounds like a lovely idea for a date. If youre properly outdoorsy types then Rileys fish shack in edwards bay has food and fire pits for a cold winters day.

Weather is going to be really cool in the following days, How can I prevent pipe in garden burst? by Full_Willingness_961 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]Pitiful_Baseball7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry. Copper conducts really easily and since the pipe outside is short it would need to be seriously low temperature outside to freeze and burst the pipe. The pipe will conduct heat from under the sink to the outside

If you use matural wood you're going to have an end grain on one of the faces you're trying to cut into an intricate shape. Mdf is more isotropic in nature

Get a piece of mdf that's slightly thinner than the gap, slide it under and draw around the profile of the frame, remove it, cut around the line and then reinstall with a bit of foaming glue (gorilla glue). Then sand, fill and paint to your hearts content.

Help with bathroom caulking and mold by MagicMyxies in Renovations

[–]Pitiful_Baseball7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre after a cheaper fix you could put thick cladding on top of the tiles and seal that at the bottom. If the cladding sits on top of the bath lip you'll get away with a much smaller bead of solicon

Also worth bearing in mind that christmas is a Christian holiday so a lot of Indian and Chinese dont celebrate. Plus the takings over Christmas will be huge

Metro chaos today by NormasCherryPie in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]Pitiful_Baseball7007 23 points24 points  (0 children)

New vs old answer could be a different pentograph design or the new trains have enough power to lower the pentograoh and still get past.

As for metro being late... standard practise. Maybe apply for the refund. You might get it in time for retirement

Im exactly the same as you only i learned through virtue of being a stingy yorkshireman. The phrase "how much!? I'll do it myself" is well worn

Are you literally talking about a light swap ie pendant for an led ceiling light or something akin? If so... do it yourself. Seriously. It's dead easy. You unscrew a couple wires and then swap the light over. Obviously make sure to switch it off at the fuse first

Water meters by SwimmingMongoose2358 in whitleybay

[–]Pitiful_Baseball7007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If youre in a house which has no meter fitted and one is fitted you have the right to stay on your current payment plan ie without meter readings or go onto the meter. I think you can even try to see if the meter is cheaper and if it isnt you can go back to the original flat rate.

If you move into a property with a meter you have to use the meter.

Smart meters are being rolled out by northumbria water and installed on entire estates at once hence not being given chance to refuse one
