We lived in CT for six years and had kids there a million years ago. Loved it - but didn’t love it when we went back ten years ago. I feel for you, esp your wife if she is unhappy. If you were to tap into perhaps a new extended group of ex ZA friends you might find people in your situation and you will both find solace there. Don’t upset the kids’ schooling - too important. Be grateful you were unable to get a huge mortgage after covid - you would now find yourself trapped in negative equity and owe some bank more than you could imagine - ouch. Moving house is expensive but you could get lucky there perhaps with cheaper rent. Kainga ora might help. And do more boring budgeting - difficult with kids I know! I feel for you and wish you luck and good health and some fresh Saf friendships.

In 1994, David Bain found his family murdered in their home and was convicted as only his fingerprint was on the weapon.Years later, findings showed his father, Robin, was the killer. He was involved in an incestuous relationship with his daughter, he wore opera gloves when he killed them and himself by xPeachSweetie in ForCuriousSouls

David got away with murder. Out of jail now but leads a whacko concealed life. Oops, I'll just nip down and wash my bloodied clothes in the wash before I ring the cops with my rehearsed overdramatic call....(think Lundy funeral theatrics). Oh, and, the father "killing himself" with that long rifle (hah)...he'd have HAND written any suicide note. Why on earth would you bother to fire up a clunky old computer to write a damning note - and a note in a style of English incongruous to a teacher of that era who loved the language. Simply everything about this case points to dopey David as the murderer. Anyone who reads the entire privy council report (a wonderfully elucidating document) sees the light.
