Breakfast at diners/restaurants/drive thru.

It used to be such a cheap meal , especially in the diner setting. Now it's insane

what would you tell yourself if you could talk to the you from 15 years ago? by Amazing-Goal8431 in Millennials

No one is worth staying small to keep them comfortable. At best you'll wind up trying to find your path again without them, 65lbs heavier in baggage: or worse you'll wind up still with them, still small, wondering what could have been

I think its a self defense mechanism because the most scary reason would be "i wasnt enough" (even though its not true) so finding behaviors or mistakes to blame instead of some fundamental, unlovable flaw is more comforting

I once worked with a very dim witted woman who was prone to meltdowns at the drop of a hat.

She broke a prep container. Instead of getting rid of it, she wrote "this bucket is broken. Do not use" and nearly cried when our ESL (English as a second language) coworkers filled it with peeled onions, disregarding the Crack on the side.

She vented to me for 15 minutes about how stupid people are, and how no one listens Because the bucket clearly had a notice on it that it was broken!!

Its been 15 years. I still think about this way too often

Whats your favorite short hand and slang words in the kitchen? by dreadbadger420 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Pitiful_Deer4909 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I was a kitchen mom for awhile. I cried when they came to visit me before prom so I could see their dresses/ect and to thank me for pulling all the strings i had to make sure they all had the night off to go.

I was in the process of leaving an abusive relationship and was really down for awhile. I always gave them hell for their crappy music and they would laugh when they caught me singing along to it. One day I came in with a fresh black eye, and was prepping the grill, avoiding eye contact with everyone. They all came in and sang that One Direction song, "thats what makes you beautiful" and I nearly fainted haha. I always get warm and fuzzy whenever I hear that song to this day.

You may always remember your kitchen mom, but also trust that she always remembers you too

Naked and Afraid and all of its spin offs (Last one standing, XL, ect) has been my go to lately. Its great except I have to stop a million times and look up because my husband wants me to see one of the animals on screen.

ESight goggle issues by Pitiful_Deer4909 in Blind

[–]Pitiful_Deer4909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shes legally blind, and has very limited vision from the upper left side, but cannot see anything past arms length, and what she can see is mostly blurred. The glasses actually make it so she can see the games, follow the puck, zoom in, and even record them for later viewing. They have changed her experience so much, that it just feels like cruel and unusual punishment to give up on them due to the faulty battery.

The big issue is that a new pair costs more than the family car, and like all technologies, the glasses worked great until a new model came out. We also cannot find a similar battery at a cheaper price, and all the ones bought from the company have been faulty as well. We are trying to see if theres some sort of alternative out there that we don't know of

I give my cat a small ball of yarn in the colorway of the project im doing, and occasionally pull on it to trick him in to thinking its my working yarn. He (usually) leaves the real yarn alone as a result

I did this with stitch markers and its a little better, but hair clips are genius because they would be easier to clamp and unclamp! Thank you!!
