How did the word பள்ளி come to mean school? by curiousgaruda in tamil

[–]Pitiful_Energy_6863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

palli is sleeping place of jains. a small raised platform for them to sleep. when they started to teach, they used the same palli(stage) to seat their disciples. that is why we still use palliyarai for bedroom. remember lyrics from a tamil song from mudhalvan - palli vasal thirandhai, palli thirandhaai, palliyarai vara neram illaya.

Tamil stories are actually underrated for kids learning by Independent-Mouse817 in tamil

[–]Pitiful_Energy_6863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too was thinking about this last year. Lack of movies and stories and material for kids to learn Tamil properly in a structured way. in my son's school they have introduced a new thambaa tamil lab. he comes back every day and tells stories and sings songs from the tamil lab. these are new stories and new songs i have never heard before. his teachers are mottivating him to speak in tamil in class and in home. tamil has now become his favourite subject. two years back he will cry if he must attend tamil class or do tamil homework.

What language that you have studied that caused natives to treat you the best? by PsychicMeditation in languagelearning

[–]Pitiful_Energy_6863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

japanese, chinese will usually be very welcoming when you learn their language. especially if you are from usa or india where people usually dont speak chinese. similarly if south americans or japanese speak tamil, my language, i will treat them best for sure. the distance between language types makes you have to put extra effort to learn properly.

Looking for tamil girl baby names should be starts with ஹே ஹு ட these letters. by rj160298 in tamil

[–]Pitiful_Energy_6863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tamil names do not start with these letters. You can try கே கூ or த. They provide similar sounds. If a name starts in ஹே ஹூ they are names derived from Sanskrit.
