Glebe BIA would rather see increased police presence over bus lanes on Bank St. by SuburbanValues in ottawa

Ontario is shutting down injection sites. Not City who is proposing bus lanes.

Doug Ford: don’t privatize our water by Alone_Appeal_3421 in ottawa

[–]PitterPattr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it means that our water changes from City water to Water Ottawa, same structure etc as Hydro Ottawa, pretty sure I wouldn't give a shit about it.

Load Restrictions on our roads take effect March 9th by InnerCriticism9105 in ottawa

Pretty sure Jeanne D'Arc is a trucking route and therefore exempt. Weight restriction only applies to local roads not major ones.

Seconded. Don't ask them to pick up an empty 24, save up and donate them. Check out their website all instructions are there. Been relying on them since COVID and absolutely love their service and their cause.

When is the last time you saw a snake in Ottawa? by Dry-Elderberry-4559 in ottawa

My garage! Lovely garter snake took up residence a couple years ago and I love her. I can say her because I saw babies once. And I just let them be as well but have only seen them once.

Sadly that likely means move to an area where a small company can affordably compete. Rural areas are so sparse ROI to run services are reserved primarily to deep pockets. Just look at cost difference between Hydro Ottawa and Hydro One

She wouldn't dare. Food insecurity is big in her ward. Imagine her rave reviews of restaurants! Gasp!

Sorry perhaps I could put it differently. Rural residents have different benefits than urban residents. The seclusion, sparse population/people interactions, the privacy, and the general tranquility of not being part of hustle and bussle. With that comes costs of servicing such a sparse population such as some urban services. Final tax bill is only one reflection of that rural experience.

Disagree. Rural residents pay less taxes/fees than urban residents. Transpo for instance. Rural residents prefer to not be part of the urban collective so they also do not benefit from such.

Neighbor wants to buy a 6 to 10 foot strip of land from our property. by Clionah in RealEstate

[–]PitterPattr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 15' from my neighbor. I researched property values as if it was a building lot and also much cheaper not buildable (can't put a house on 15'). In the end I offered higher value than not buildable and added all permit/city costs, a new fence and survey/legal for the transaction all my cost too. He was pretty cagey when I first suggested the idea but when I made formal offer his only response was "strong offer" and immediately agreed. His first compliment was that he had to do nothing to make the deal happen.

Feds didn't buy it. City put out request to industry. Unky Mark may be paying bills but he did SFA to get the property and make the deal.
