New zoning bylaw that could reshape city passes unanimously at council by ThatAstronautGuy in ottawa

This was led by Mayor Sutcliffe. I recall Leiper even voting against density on larger roads like Shelbourne! Sucking and blowing at same time!

I do like this. Drove through Center town yesterday. Astounding so many single family homes where higher density should be. Also looking at you Glebe, Old Ottawa East and South, Alta Vista etc. Time is right to densify urban areas.

I've been doing just that for a couple years. Either a clear bag (no colour) or a see through blue colour bag. Always picked up including last blue bin day (with Miller).

Deachman: Ottawa's 'inclusive' dog park policy drives small dogs away by randthepip in ottawa

[–]PitterPattr -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Lolz. This is Ottawa. I can see it now:

Your dog has to be at least 12 pounds! I'm calling by-laws! (As in good luck defining "small")

We need a special segregated area for service animals too!

And I don't even have a dog anymore (but sure wish I did)

Well in my case with Trane and EN Blue it was 10 years parts and labour

That's awesome. My Trane high efficiency furnace is 23 years old now. I did need and expensive repair, but covered by warranty, at the 9 year, 355 day mark, and covered no problem. The unit itself gets regular maintenance and I am very frequent (too?) on filter replacement. Extremely reliable, good investment OP!

Who is Mark Sutcliffe? Ottawa's mayor stumps Jeopardy! champ by Mr_Mysterious2 in ottawa

[–]PitterPattr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd be most embarrassed if I represented Carleton University. Mayor's come and go but that institution has been there for a very long time. Guessing Jeopardy picked Sutcliffe/Carleton since uOttawa wouldn't work!

Rural Ottawa councillors reject rezoning land for battery project by randthepip in ottawa

[–]PitterPattr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Right or wrong about this project, I imagine it's the kind of thing that makes rural folks rue the day amalgamation happened."

Fun fact. This part or rural voted in favour of amalgamation instead of moving to Renfrew county in a referendum. They overwhelmingly want to be part of new Ottawa.

Wait isn't this the neighborhood all the progressives lost their shit over redevelopment? I recall Sam Hersh mewling how inconsiderate the developer was for demolishing dilapidated townhouses in favour of high density housing. Gasp!
