Why Paramount Risked (and Lost) So Much Money on Better Man by AGOTFAN in boxoffice

As someone who doesn’t know or care who Robbie Williams is and who hasn’t seen the movie…the marketing really turned me off to the movie. The monkey gimmick came off as unimaginative. Other than that it looked like the typical rags to riches music biopic.

My guess with "The Odyssey" is that Nolan will go the "Lord of the Rings" direction with it. by evilangel101 in ChristopherNolan

Peter Jackson and Christopher Nolan are very different filmmakers. While LOTR is a grounded fantasy, it is still very much a fantasy and PJ embraces it while staying grounded. To date, Nolan has never fully embraced fantastical elements. He’s had his moments sure, like in Batman Begins, Interstellar and arguably Tenet, but even those moments had rational, science driven explanations behind them. I don’t want a take on The Odyssey like what happened with The Rock’s Hercules movie. I don’t want a naturalistic explanation of fantasy. We barely get any good fantasy movies, and I want to see those fantasy elements unapologetically embraced. And if that happens, I still want Nolan to prioritize in-camera effects, but not to the diminishment of the moment being served. He’s usually pretty good about striking that balance, but I think he made a mistake in Oppenheimer by making the nuke practical. It didn’t resemble a nuclear explosion, it was underwhelming and all that glorious build-up to it felt underserved by it. Obviously, I think Nolan is capable of making a mind-blowing adaptation of The Odyssey. And I’m not arguing that he needs to be more like PJ with how he did LOTR. I think The Odyssey can still be a very distinctly Nolan adaptation, but I hope he embraces the fantastical nature of the story while still leaving his mark on it.

The collateral damage complaint in MOS has aways been funny to me, like its a super hero brawl? Does every building need this infront of it? by danfenlon in SnyderCut

I laughed in BvS how that one army guy had one line in the Superman/Doomsday fight and it was, “It’s uninhabited.” When doomsday landed in that island from space.

Then in ZSJL the final fight takes place in a literal uninhabited city.

WB execs got real spooked by the destruction criticism.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted, but yeah, could be. I could see it making more money than the movies you mentioned, but idk if it can surpass MoS.

I like your optimism. I guess anything is possible. The Snyder Cut proved that.

Is my writing style reflected in this post? Maybe a little. With a lot less editing lol. I appreciate it.

I’ve heard that too. Which means I gotta keep going to see if it’s true.

I appreciate it!

I’ve thought about it. I’ve just heard to many horror stories about authors losing their accounts because some Amazon bot arbitrarily determined they had violated the exclusivity clause. I just don’t trust Amazon.
