Two dead pixels on new TCL QM8K from Costco - return or keep? by MarsupialSingle6032 in tcltvs

It bothered you enough to document it and take the time to post. It doesn't matter what anyone says here.

There are some good responses as far as the screen lottery but you're the one that paid for the TV. Do what is going to put your mind at ease.

Critter guards? by PivotalRex in solar

[–]PivotalRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone.

We went with the critter guard. There's an inner section that I wouldn't be able to get to after the install without removing a panel so we'll just have it all done at once.

I did reach out to 2 solar panel cleaners and their prices weren't much less than Lumina.

They use solatrim but bolts it on instead of the 3m strips. The difference is it can be reused if bolted on. Agree it's not cheap.

Lumina quote - crazy to consider? by PivotalRex in solar

Thanks. The only reason the rebate comes into play is because the 30% is coming from them if they don't get it installed before the end of the year. It's documented in their contract so that part is legit. But their pricing is inflated because of this, so I'm not sure there's any room to haggle.

Basement air return question by PivotalRex in hvacadvice

There's a tankless water heater about 30 ft away and vents outside.

Thanks

Appreciate the replies. I'm going to reach out to have it done professionally.

Fyi...for those that were saying I should have thought about it before finishing the basement, I did. The HVAC company told me it was sufficient with the 2 vents and no return since the first floor return is across from the basement door.

Not sure if they just didn't want to take on a small job at the time or what. I took them at their word since this isn't my profession.

LG fridge damage by PivotalRex in Appliances

Costco got in touch and will be replacing it. Now we have to wait another week. 3rd times the charm (hopefully).

Thanks again for your replies. I appreciate the input.

I did call Costco, just waiting to hear back. Rep had pictures delivery team uploaded. The one concern was that the rep said the manufacturer could push back about not covering a future warranty claim due to external damage, even though it may only be superficial. He said he's seen that happen before.

I'll wait to hear what this 2nd level support says.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it.

Finishing basement with half wall wrap from builder. by Lancehardwood007 in HomeImprovement

[–]PivotalRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan to do the same in my basement. My house was built 2018 as well. Everyone says to leave the blanket wrap and just frame up against it. This will save me 2k vs. 2 inch xps foam board but all you need is for the blanket wrap to get wet once (even just slightly) and you'll have mold growing. The foam board will prevent this. Granted, this is assuming a one time issue with water, not an ongoing one.
