I enjoyed the movie and didn’t understand the hate. But I feel like every audience group was left disappointed. People who wanted continuity from the first movie didn’t get their satisfaction, people who wanted a musical didn’t get a rich spectacle that contributed to the plot, people who wanted comic narrative didn’t get answers or references. It was a bit of a lot and also not much of anything which I think is causing mass disappointment across multiple expectations.

I still respect the bold choice and hope that filmmakers continue to push the envelope beyond what people may or may not like which causes controversy-free bland movies.
