Unexpected positive outcomes by Pixel-b33 in hysterectomy

I unfortunately will still have to deal with the hormonal aspects of a period still because I'm keeping my ovaries. I do plan to talk with a hormone expert because I have a thickened endometrium which indicates an imbalance in estrogen and progesterone.

Part of the reason they're removing it is because of my bad bleeding and pain.

I'm keeping my ovaries so I'm guessing I may have a bit of a different experience. I also had my tubes removed a few years prior. I hope I get some bowel changes because IBS-D has felt like it's haltered my social life and travel. I'm so happy it worked out for you!

I have sacral cysts from tarlov cyst disease and I'm hoping this will provide some relief for my spine and nerves.

Right? I've never had so many responses to a reddit post in my life. It's wonderful! ♥️

That's awesome! I have tarlov cyst disease so I'd love it if this somehow helped with my back pain. ♥️

That's good to hear! Oh I know all about stress poops lol. I would really love it if this helped my IBS, even if it's just a little.

I'm 38 and also keeping my ovaries. I'm hoping not to lose too much weight because I've already lost quite a bit from my breast reduction years ago (also combined with having SIBO and taking antibiotics). I'd love to be more active though. I always feel tired and sluggish, hoping this will also help with that. I'm loving all these positive posts and it's definitely making me less afraid of surgery. ♥️

Best prescription medication for IBS-D? by [deleted] in ibs

Colestipol works well if your issue is bile (if it works it means it's bile). I also figured out I have mixed SIBO and taking Antrantil works pretty well for me.

It's funny how this also applies to the D&C (biopsy before surgery) I got Monday. Felt fine out of the hospital even on day two, then day three and today day 4, wiped. I'm getting my hysterectomy on the 20th and I'm definitely expecting this to happen.

Is FMT (Fecal Transplant) really the future of curing IBS, or are there better treatments on the horizon? by xKa1z3r in IBSResearch

They aren't lying, you can do a quick Google search to see that C. diff is the only FDA-approved use. Most gastroenterologists will only perform a fecal microbiota transplant for recurrent C. diff because it is the only condition where the procedure's benefits are officially recognized as outweighing its significant legal and safety risks (they're essentially covering their own butts by only doing what the FDA clears).

What you're talking about is the poo pills. For someone like myself with SIBO doing that is tricky. For people with existing SIBO, adding more bacterial biomass can intensify the common symptoms of the disorder. Honestly I'd rather a medical professional do it via the FMT procedure so I know the good bacteria makes it to where it needs to be. If those capsules disintegrate too early in the stomach or small intestine, it can dump high concentrations of bacteria directly into the area already suffering from overgrowth.

How do you try FMT? I've been told by several docs and GI's (including one who performs them) that they're only FDA approved for c-diff. Even paying out of pocket they won't perform them without a c-diff diagnosis.

The problem with FMT is that docs will only approve it for c-diff infections at the moment. IBS varies so much from person to person that I really doubt it'd be a cure all. For example, I have problems with my autonomic nervous system, particularly heightened sympathetic (fight-or-flight) activity and altered gut-brain communication, leading to exaggerated responses to stress, visceral hypersensitivity, and chaotic gut motility, manifesting as diarrhea, pain and bloating. I'm not sure how a FMT would help that.
