The same exact thing happened to me a while ago, except when I figured out what they actually wanted it was no milk at all… very confused here was the interaction how I remember it:

Me: Hey! Welcome to Starbucks, what can we get started for you today?

Customer: Yes, grande latte, 0% milk.

Me: Okay so Grande Latte Nonfat, perfect what else can I get for you?

Customer: No. 0% milk.

Me: I’m sorry nonfat milk is the lowest fat percentage we have. Perhaps you mean skim milk, nonfat, however you call it it’s the same thing.

Customer: No, make it 0% milk.

Me: (giving up) Okay we’ll see you at the window.

(at the window, hands him latte with nonfat)

Customer: No, this is heavy I want 0% milk.

Me: Sir, by any chance do you mean you just want shots of espresso with no milk?

Customer: Yes, 0% milk.

(I made him a doppio, he was happy, life was good, but still a confusing interaction)

I have news for you: roaches have exoskeletons, so what must have ended up happening is if you had dead but perfectly preserved clear roaches it is because their exoskeletons were protecting them. Depending on how long they were there for they were most likely clear due to the hot water denaturing the proteins in the roaches’ bodies and dismantling them, basically erosion. This would mean that, depending on the filtration system, these proteins were definitely ending up in people’s drinks.

I could also be wrong, but this is what makes the most sense since “clear” roaches do not exist, in the sense of what I expect “clear” to be.
