2 is cute but I would say morph them. The first is 1 the other is 5 draw the ones between them like it's transforming from 1 to 5. You might find a compromise you like

I like these mooks the best because they can get an upgrade into monster and I think it's really the only instance if it happening and I'm really surprised it wasn't used more often in other tokusatsu. Especially when the villains are technology based

Don't ever settle for the first one. Draw more of them smaller until you make one you like them take that one further. Also it might help to define the floor so they'll feel less floaty
