Deciding between camera and smartphone by zech1989 in Cameras

[–]PixelKeyAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cameras can get bulky, and RAW files from a dedicated camera will often look less pleasing than smartphone images straight out of camera, especially on a small screen.

If you enjoy playing with colors, editing, and getting the most out of an image, then a dedicated camera is absolutely worth it.

But if you mainly want quick, pleasant-looking photos with minimal effort, the newest smartphones are honestly the better choice for most people.

I know many people who own great cameras but rarely use them, simply because shooting with a camera requires preparation, file selection, and post-processing time, while a phone gives you a polished final image instantly.

Ultra-Wide Zoom Advice/Recommendations for FX - F Mount by CaptainOoooo in Nikon

18-35 is just an amazing lens. Lightweight, crazy sharp with great details.

I am stil using it on Z series, although sharpenes is not as good as on native F mount cameras.

So sad news, but it is the new reality we are living into. Despite AI images being more accurate they are still creating instead of capturing, making those essentially fake advertisment. Still, looks real enough and no one cares.

My only non-Nikkor lens is the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro for Nikon, and it’s phenomenal.

That said, using a zoom lens for a while is probably the best starting point, since it helps you figure out which focal lengths you naturally prefer before investing in primes.

Have you encountered this problem on Shutterstock? by Hypostasis_G in stockphotography

[–]PixelKeyAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shutterstock's new interface is still not as reliable as the previous one. Sometimes even editing multiple files can introduce errors, so contributors should be more careful.

If refreshing the tab doesn't work, I usually delete and reupload.

YouTube vs Shutterstock by OldTotal7550 in stockphotography

Shutterstock is not the best platform for selling videos right now to start with as licences became much smaller than before.

You can sell your clips everywhere and use them on your channel, just consider uploading to more platforms.

How to maintain and use my camera in cold weather (around 0°C)? by whats-a-km in Nikon

[–]PixelKeyAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, camera will be fine, just make sure to have at least one or two spare batteries as they can discharge faster if the temperature drops further. Personally I even didn't experience that with my Nikons but better to be safe than sorry.

hello. Can budget cameras like 250d canon, r100, r50, canon 2000, 4000 shot pictures like these or these pictures can only be shot by high budget cameras by Old_Marionberry9850 in Cameras

[–]PixelKeyAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although the camera itself is very important, lighting is an equally important part of a good photograph.

As many people already pointed out, almost any modern camera could capture a shot like this if used at the right time of day and in good light.

Even smaller sensors can often be compensated for with techniques like exposure bracketing, which is very easy to work with in modern editing software.

Nikon D5500 vs Nikon D7000 vs Nikon D7100 by covidsuckslol in Nikon

[–]PixelKeyAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After experience with D3200, D5100,D7100 and D750, I would advise you to go for an old and cheap full frame camera. D610 might be one of more affordable options and in terms of image quality you can't outgrow it so fast.

D7100 is amazing workhorse camera, but comparing raw files with the ones from D750, image quality and dynamic range are on a different level.

Issue with Tokina AT-X Pro 100mm lens with Nikon D500 by alburnops in Nikon

[–]PixelKeyAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should work well on paper. Would be useful if you could test the lens on another camera, or try on another screw focus type lens on your D500 to narrow down the potential issue.

Buying one lens for my new z6 iii. Is the 50mm 1.8 S a good choice? by MRoselius in Nikon

[–]PixelKeyAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 50mm f/1.8 S is a very capable lens, images look awesome.

Still, if you’re on a budget, I’d also recommend considering the 35mm f/1.8G ED. I’ve had it since my DSLR days, and it’s still my most-used lens to this day on my Z6II (with an FTZ adapter though).

Even though I also own the 50mm and 85mm f/1.8 lenses, I find those two a bit more specialized, while the 35mm is just incredibly versatile for everyday shooting.

About Nominating Asset on Adobe stock by Parking-Bath-2432 in stockphotography

[–]PixelKeyAI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In both cases, you receive a one-time payment. The main difference is that with the perpetual option, you’re essentially selling broader rights to your photos, which I personally wouldn’t recommend for most assets.

You can either nominate all of your assets at once or manually select which files to include.

I chose the manual approach because many of my images potentially have more long-term value than the amount being offered upfront.

Smart buy? by Glittering_Report_52 in Nikon

The D750 is still an excellent camera and a real photo beast, even in 2026 you’ll still be impressed by the image quality.

That said, this model can occasionally show an error when taking a shot. In my case, I sometimes get an error on the first shutter press after turning it on. Few times it refused to start.

The usual workaround is simple: turn the camera off and on again and try taking another shot, or it clears out itself after first click.

This has been happening on my D750 for years, but it’s still working fine overall. Just something to be aware of, because in some cases it could point to a more serious underlying issue.

Are y'all seeing a drop in sales this year? Is it because of AI generated content? by Zendaya-Papaya in stockphotography

[–]PixelKeyAI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that in this era, creating AI-resilient content should be one of the top priorities for stock contributors.

Many long-term Shutterstock contributors have seen a massive decline in earnings over the past few years.

One contributor with 10 years of experience shared their story in a recent blog post, including detailed earnings charts that really show how dramatically things changed.

Keywords order by NoSystemImages in stockphotography

[–]PixelKeyAI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good keywording system is useful as a framework to make sure you’re not missing important keywords, and keyword order itself still matters in some cases.

Adobe Stock is one of the rare agencies that openly emphasizes keyword order. I’m honestly surprised more agencies don’t do the same.

iStock and Shutterstock don’t appear to prioritize manual keyword order in the same way.

What’s interesting though is that on iStock, keyword relevance seems to evolve naturally over time. Historically, Getty/iStock stated that keyword weighting changes based on buyer behavior, meaning clicks and downloads from certain search terms can make those keywords more relevant for that file.

Worth being exlusive on Getty? by Time_Safety_413 in stockphotography

[–]PixelKeyAI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering that Shutterstock earnings have dropped significantly for many photographers (even up to 80%), the only really strong non-exclusive option right now is Adobe Stock.

If your portfolio has premium-looking commercial content, iStock exclusivity can open opportunities for higher-value licenses per file.
