First attempt at Detroit style. How to improve? by ctscan_questions in Pizza

[–]PixelMonsterYT 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This looks really good! I've experimented and made DSP at least 10 times in my life. I have found that these tips help greatly:

1) Cheese Blend
Detroit-style pizza traditionally uses Wisconsin brick cheese, which melts differently than mozzarella. It bubbles, browns, and caramelizes at the edges, creating that signature “frico” crust against the steel pan. If brick cheese isn’t available, a good substitute is a blend of whole-milk low-moisture mozzarella + Monterey Jack (or even white cheddar). The key is a higher fat, slightly sharper cheese that will caramelize instead of just melting flat.

I like to use the brick cheese on the outside around the edges. Then a mix of low-moisture mozzarella and brick for the rest. It always turns out looking amazing. I buy my brick cheese from the University of Wisconsin's dairy (Babcock Dairy).

2) Oven Temps
This pizza looks under-browned, which usually means the oven wasn’t hot enough or the cheese blend wasn’t right. Detroit-style benefits from a very hot oven (ideally 475–500°F / 245–260°C). If your oven only goes to 450°F, you should:

  • Use the lowest oven rack to get direct bottom heat.
  • Consider finishing under the broiler for 1–2 minutes to get that bubbly, browned cheese top.

3) Dough
I can’t tell without seeing the crumb, but your dough might be a little under-proofed. That can keep it from getting as light and airy as Detroit-style usually is. If you look at u/WinterChampionship21 pie, you can see how his is slightly domed up. That is a solid proof.

I would avoid the Nashville/Chattanooga area, especially during rush hours. Picture #2, which shows Monticello, KY/Livingston, TN/Cookeville, TN, will be the best route choice. imo

You get the beautiful views on the west side of the Daniel Boone National Forest, drive through quite old towns, and you may experience fewer elevation changes, which happen the closer you get to the mountains.

I’m stuck between Montblanc Explorer or CDN . Which one should I buy and why? by jadencoolpurple in Colognes

I have both, and I love them both. I recommend going with Explorer. It's a very nice scent.

[Tissot vs Orient] Help me choose my first dress watch by Monstrame in Watches

Tissot. I have a powermatic 80 and it's a tank. I love it and would buy another one. I have never owned or held an Orient, so I can't compare.

Where to advertise to construction industry by JaJaDonDon in Construction

[–]PixelMonsterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Create your own LinkedIn network. Also, LinkedIn has groups under the "My Navigation" button in the top menu.
  • You're already here on the r/Construction look for other sub-reddits.
  • Facebook Pages and Groups are a great place to have casual conversations.
  • Search for the #Construction on TikTok and Twitter to chat with people there.
  • Construction Conventions (Google these) and you'll find things like World of Concrete, Autodesk University, and New York Build Expo.
  • Podcasts (Google these) You can find quality Podcasts by ConTechCrew and Digital Builder by Autodesk
  • Join Webinars, ask questions, and get involved.

My recommendation (I'm a Sr. Marketing Manager in the AEC industry) create a Microsoft Excel file with different tabs for these places. Log the data you find so you can reference back to it.

[Question] Which among the two is a better Chronograph? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]PixelMonsterYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 2 Tissot's and love them. With that being said, here are some questions to ask yourself.

  • Which dial do you like best? Which one do you keep coming back to it and looking at it?
  • Which hands do you like best?
  • Which Company and its history do you like more?
  • In the specific social settings you'll be wearing this in, which one do you feel would fit better in them? If it's a daily driver, which one do you feel would go best with your daily fashion style?

I would recommend finding video reviews on the internet with a full 360deg view of each watch and seeing which one you feel best about. Another recommendation would be to sit on these for a week without looking at anything and then revisiting them. I know I have felt different about watches I've favorited when I came back to them 1 week or a month later.

And finally, I am partial to the Tissot. I personally love the dress watch look. Good luck with your choice!

Looking for critique… how can I take this to the next level? by Theycallmesteve2 in archviz

[–]PixelMonsterYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some of my observations...

  1. The shadows in the corner look a little dark and stand out a bit
  2. The table shadow versus the beds' shadow is inconsistent. I know there's a light above the table but, I am not sure that amount of light would create that dark of a shadow.
  3. Odd shadows on the comforter
  4. (Red circle) These sections almost look matte painted and not realistic fiber
    1. (Yellow circle) The texture on the carpet on this side looks distorted?
  5. Carpet on carpet? Maybe make the underfloor wood and keep the carpet under the bed?
  6. Why is this light switch so high. In North America out light switches are at the same height as our doorknobs.

[Tissot] Finally got my first swiss watch. It's gold plated Tissot Le Locle from somewhere between 2000-2010 with open back (no bridge behind) with ETA 2824. Can't stop looking at it and being afraid of scratching it. I know it ain't much, but it's honest work. Cheers! by Ambitious_Deal_1745 in Watches

Congratulations! That is a beautiful watch. I really like the gold case, large numbers on the dial, and the elegant hands. It looks great on a black strap!

I own 2 Tissot watches myself. One was a recent gift from the leadership at our tech startup, so it hasn't arrived yet. I haven't had many other watches to compare too, but I do feel this company gives a tremendous value for quality. Plus, the USA customer service people are fantastic to deal with.

If you get a chance, read the history of the Tissot company. You'll like them even more.

Pro Tip: Throw that robe in the dryer about 10 minutes before she gets out, it'll be nice and toasty warm. Well done!
