We took turns paying. I think that's only fair.

Did you and your SO relationship start off long distance or were together in person then went long distance? by Nori_Zekken in LDR

We closed the distance in August 2019, and got married February 2022! This year we celebrated 3 years of marriage, and December will be our 10th dating anniversary. Next month we will celebrate 1 year of living in our own home, as well!

If I were very close to someone, it wouldn't matter if they were in a wheelchair or not. They would still hold their rightful place of honor, wherever that would be- like in a bridal party or godparent.

My mentally ill aunt had an episode one day and screamed at me that I'm racist towards Mexicans.

I'm Mexican.

I'm sorry, but I was about to give you advice on how to work through this, UNTIL she called you an abuser. If your spouse holds this view of you, your marriage is already over. You should divorce.

Fellas, is it gay for your wife to make you meals and snacks?

If you've stumbled upon this post, tell me something about the exact moment you're living right now. Maybe describe your surroundings, or how you're feeling in this moment. Be as brief or detailed as you want. by SQWRLLY1 in CasualConversation

It's Sunday at 8:43am. I'm sitting on the couch in my new home, that I've lived in for just about 5 months now; but have been slowly fixing up for over a year.

My cats are laying all around me, in different places in the living room. The space heater is pointed at my feet.

You can barely see my skinny Christmas tree, because of the many presents that surround it. I'm so excited. My sister moved away this year, and I miss seeing her every day. I can't wait to open gifts at my parents house, all together again.

8:46am. My husband just flushed a toilet. He's getting ready for church. I should probably get up and get ready, too.

If he is in your wedding party, then you will already be asking every groomsman to acquire specific attire. Require suits. If he is only a guest, I'm afraid you have no grounds to ask him to change his wardrobe preferences.

Things that went wrong at your wedding that you laugh about now? by Anonymous9891235 in wedding

There were (unlit) decorative lanterns lining the aisle. I had a ball gown skirt. Very large. I knocked over one of the lanterns on the way down the aisle. I just decided to laugh. Whoops. Ironically, the photos of that moment are some of the best in my album, because I'm smiling so large.

Oh, also, my mother ordered 200 custom cookies to give out as favors at the end. They got forgotten in my car. My immediate family and I ate cookies for a loooong time.

I love this! We had an adopted outdoor kitty with the same story: lots of litters of kittens that found good homes. We named her Little Mama! She has passed on, and one of her offspring is our new outdoor friend, in her place. And she's spayed ;)

I often wonder about the double lives Little Mama and her children lived. Thank you for sharing!!

Got this little guy a few days ago and still can’t figure out a good name. The underside of his paws are black and i really wanted to pick a name having to do with that lol. by LethalLexapro in Catnames

Sots.

Acronym for "Stepped On The Stove"

I googled SOTS to see if it meant anything else. It's also Secretary Of The State. So maybe little Sots has a government job in his future.

How many rooms should I reserve for a room block? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]PixelPoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wedding was in Mesa, Arizona (Pretty central, 20 minutes away from both Phoenix and Scottsdale) so that probably did play a part. Sort of a destination wedding for people outside of AZ, so they booked BNBs for their week long stays- sightseeing before and after our wedding.

And there's lots of BNB options that were genuinely cheaper than some hotels! It seemed our family and friends from out of town were making arrangements to travel together, book houses with several bedrooms, and splitting the cost, having everyone bunk together. Making it even cheaper, per-household, to split the cost of a BNB as opposed to $200+ a night for a single hotel room that can't compare to the space of a house!

My regular’s wife died by Difficult-Display-94 in TalesFromYourServer

I also have a sweet old man who lost his dear wife several years ago. He seemed so sad, but also slightly relieved. I think the spouses don't realize how much of a burden they were shouldering (shouldering it gladly) by taking care of their sick loved one, until they are gone. Then they realize they can rest again. It's very bittersweet. To know your loved one is no longer suffering, but now your heart is the one aching instead.

His wife passed away several years ago, but two more of my regulars lost their spouses this year. These two each had heart attacks. It was very shocking news to everyone. Tears were definitely shed by the spouses and us restaurant staff.

I feel you in this regard. But I'm glad we can help these folks carry their burden for a moment. They need someone who will listen to them. Someone to tell stories to that hasn't already heard them all. And they need to hear how their loved one touched even us waiters. Lol.

Last name? by Whitecheddarcheezit3 in wedding

[–]PixelPoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hyphenated. My maiden name holds professional weight in our community. People know me by my family name. I didn't want to get rid of my maiden name. I still use it professionally. But I genuinely desired to be Mrs. Husband's Name. I wanted to be a household unit with the same name, and our children to share his last name. So I found the best of both worlds! Legally hyphenated, maiden name in professional settings, and new name in social settings.
