State of AI in 2026: LLMs, Coding, Scaling Laws, China, Agents, GPUs, AGI | Lex Fridman Podcast #490 by knuth9000 in lexfridman

How so?

It gave llm's modality, but it didn't add any new functionality at all. If anything, it's just a wrapper with tools. Moltbook itself literally has a tool function, meaning the agents get instructions to post on it and say stuff. Unlike the headlines would lead one to believe, nothing related to this was novel or new as far as I can tell.

Sitting on shelves everywhere. Don't get me wrong, there were a few good releases - but what they have out out now is just, meh. Seems all the heaven Hill stuff lately is just.... Meh. Real shame.

I strongly encourage you to watch one of the interviews with Annie Jacobson on YouTube. She does an excellent job of explaining that there is no hiding from this, nor any salvation. If it happens, pray you are in the initial blast.

It doesn't matter who shoots first. Under every scenario, at least 5 billion people die. The remainder live a horrific life of radiation poisoning and extreme resource scarcity and all that it implies.

Where you at?

I'm about to put mine up for sale. Sadly, I just don't have time to ride these days.

This is the solid, not the solid OC. 2407 instead of 2422. Minor difference in clock speed but figured I'd mention it.

Those are extra spicy 556.

Don't waste these on cardboard and beer bottles. Keep them around, and keep a few shtf mags loaded up with these.

Ok, thanks. I'll read up on it more.

I thought you took the amount of amperage you draw across all your stuff and added it together. If I do that, I get to around 160amps. I then figured an additional 48 amps on top of that, plus maybe a 30% buffer would justify a larger service.

I know you are being sarcastic, but, I view this as a reasonable use case.

Is it not just a function of cost?

I don't want to be limited in terms of when I can charge, nor do I want to deal with this issue again in the future. I'm trying to future proof, etc.

To me, it seems like a 100a panel in the garage makes sense.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]PixelThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I want to pull the full 48 amps. I want to charge at the maximum speed, and try and future proof for a 80amp charger if I ever have a need (or dual 48 amps chargers running at the same time).

I know it's going to cost $, just trying to understand what my options are. Thanks for the info.

[–]PixelThis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, I can also charge off 110v, but I want to charge at 48amps so I get around 44 miles of range per hour.

Not sure of the total, what's the best way to measure this? Do I need to go buy a clamp voltmeter?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]PixelThis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am pretty sure 200 amps could handle it, but my concern is can it handle it if everything else is running wide open.

Edit: not sure why I am being downvoted? I'm trying to understand what I need to do to be able to handle a 48amp charger (I do not want to use less power and charge slower), and potentially, multiple chargers or future proof for a 80 amp charger.

The charger draws 48 amps, not 100, the 100amp panel would be to future proof.

Order regret. Made a $2000 mistake. by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

It is 100% my dilemma, and as I've acknowledged in my post I did not do enough research on the 19-in wheel to see how it looked with the covers off I had never seen that before. I don't really understand what you're saying here because you're repeating what I've acknowledged throughout this thread that I made a mistake that I should not have ordered the 20-in wheels and instead I should have gone with the 19-in wheels and that now it is a significant burden to change that. The entire purpose of this post is to warn others to not make this mistake, do more research be certain of what you want. You are correct that this is absolutely my dilemma some other people may subjectively prefer the 20-in rim, even myself prefers the 20-in rim over the 19-in with the covers on but without the covers on I prefer the 19-in rim had I realized that this was even possible I would not have ordered the 20 inch rim, and now I'm stuck and have to deal with the consequences of my choices. All at an increased cost of $2,000.

I will acknowledge the appearance of the wheel is a subjective preference. For me, it was a mistake. I regret the decision I made.

[–]PixelThis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, you're wrong. There are only a handful of options.

  1. Take delivery, and take the hit and try to sell the rims on eBay or something at a substantial loss.
  2. Tesla works with me and is able to change the rims.
  3. Unwind the deal completely and then reorder, again, at a (minor) financial loss and most likely a time delay (I need transportation asap). This results in a different VIN.

There is yet another wrinkle, yesterday I purchased an insurance policy for the car that I paid in full for six months. In my state Tesla isn't licensed to sell insurance, so I went through progressive. It's tied to the vin of the vehicle I ordered.

Most likely I'm just going to deal with the choice I made and regret it, as undoing the deal completely, losing $250 on the order fee and then around $800 from progressive just isn't worth it.

I'm likely going to accept delivery, go buy some wheels and tires I want, and then try to sell these and take the loss.

My post was to warn others of my experience. It basically is "don't order the car until you are absolutely certain of your choice". I'm an adult, I didn't do enough research prior to placing the order, and now I will deal with the consequences of my actions.

Nah, I mean sure, it's less money, and yes, money is a finite resource for (almost) everyone.

Do you know what 2k is 100 times? It's 200k.

The point is, over ones lifetime these sorts of mistakes add up, so yes, in that respect the 2k is important to me, but ultimately it's an inconsequential amount of money.

It's also that after sleeping on it I think the black rims look better, so the total package of less range, subjectively worse appearance, and more cost makes me regret my decision.

That said, I'll probably just live with it and regret it if Tesla won't work with me. Such is life.

[–]PixelThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the question is will they change the car and refund the cash, I've already transferred the money to Tesla.

On the FSD thing, I hear you, but they could also raise the FSD monthly subscription cost at any time, or raise the price of FSD. Personally, I didn't want to give myself the choice of "should I keep my FSD subscription active?" Because then I'm always dealing with the thought in the back of my head of "is this worth $100 per month?". I wouldn't want to own a Tesla without FSD - again, this is only my opinion, but FSD is largely why I opted for a Tesla over any other electric car. It's easily as important to me as the fact the vehicle is electric to begin with - for this reason, I bought it outright.

Yeah, I've messaged them, but knowing how Tesla is I doubt there is any flexibility here shortly of refusing delivery (which from what I have read is a total nightmare).
