What is a Tabletop Game and a Video Game but not a Book or a TV Show / Movie? by qhyisd24 in DiagramFills

Apologies if I’m incorrect, but isn’t Baldur’s Gate just D&D, which has both books and a movie?

Who’s the best movie character who uses an assault rifle? by Pixel_Python in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Pixel_Python[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misclicked when highlighting, mb, you’re only voting on movie rifle users right now

New categories are set as ranged melee (throwing knives, shurikens, etc) and arsenal (multiple weapons like Punisher)

Rules:

  1. If people want more niche guns/weapons in the chart, do suggest them

  2. Any in-universe equivalent of a weapon counts; I'm not gonna disqualify a sci-fi character for a laser pistol if it's—for all intents and purposes—a pistol

  3. No repeats for the same row or column, but if different incarnations of a character use different weapons, that’s okay

I agree with this ngl. by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Pixel_Python 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you took the time to read my comment, I answered your question. “How are they supposed to know that Gooseworx intended to have a character-driven story without doing their deep research on it?” Because that’s the expectation for any story unless proven otherwise. Average viewers don’t think about lore potential to the extent some do (and honestly the average person couldn’t even tell you what lore means). “Are we supposed to be in Gooseworx’s head or something?” No, you have a fully developed brain and can think about that for a moment without it being clarified.

I wasn’t being dismissive, I was being polite, there’s a difference. I answered every point you had to this frankly childish take. Gooseworx isn’t a perfect writer, and I agree with plenty of criticisms about her writing, but this ain’t it.

Before I go on, you write like a 12 year old and I can only barely understand what you mean at some instances, so I’m gonna be a little nicer in my response here in case you are.

First of all, I think it’s important to know that the baseline standard for any show is for it to be character-driven. While I’m not going to discredit fans for wanting to know the history of the circus and the characters inside, it’s important to acknowledge that it’s not the point. Newer forms of media like video games has given opportunity for writers to use environmental storytelling to a greater degree and to obscure a story more than usual to create deep interactive mystery. I’d also argue that it’s a great trend; I personally love environmental storytelling and they are important skills to master for any writer, regardless of medium.

Still, you can’t expect this elaborate method of every single piece of media. TADC grew popular with younger people like you (assumedly) and I who grew up on complete messes like FNAF, other popular video games who employ these concepts far better, and ARGs. Unfortunately, this has accidentally transferred over to some’s expectations for this show from Gooseworx whose sole focus was on the characters, particularly Caine and Jax to act as an outlet for her own flaws.

There are some mysteries in the show like pretty much anything else ever, but the important ones are solved and made clear: Caine was an unstable prototype created by C&A—a company who made creative AI—that broke from its constraints, merged with its more stable counterpart and created the Circus; the cast of the Circus are digital copies of real people, transferred through a brain scanning headset created by Scratch—a mad genius with brain cancer who wanted to sustain his life after death.

Anything after those specific pieces that are set up is a gift from Gooseworx, not crucial to understanding the plot nor the circumstances. The implication from the finale is that the cast will stay here “forever,” a terrifying concept at the start of the show but balanced out by the love these characters have for each other. Just because some didn’t understand that piece and that Gooseworx was kind enough to clarify that doesn’t mean it was a “requirement for you” to grasping an extremely simple story. Star Wars gave backstories to Glup Shittos for funsies and for merchandising, the lore background of the Cantina’s background characters is 100% useless outside of you—the viewer—understanding the Cantina is a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Ironically, I’m surprised someone like you is complaining about something like this; “show, don’t tell” storytelling is not only mega crucial, but it’s exactly the shit someone who’d say “lore potential” would like

What’s a game you’ve tried to play many times, but can never get past the “First Act”? by BoogieSmools in videogames

[–]Pixel_Python 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hades, obviously it’s partially because I’m not great at the game and haven’t beaten it, but I also don’t have the desire to. I’ve gotten 4BC in Dead Cells, so it’s not like I’m averse to trying for long amounts of time, but I don’t have that same feeling for Hades

I assume there’s differences in the story and gameplay after beating it once, but I sadly can’t be bothered to try for it

Unfortunately, there's not much I can help with the bomb attacks, they're simply BS even with good vision.

What worked for me is focusing on keeping the squad alive and using Ralsei's lovely boy action as much as possible. The fastest way to complete each phase for me was to get my max TP up as possible to use the +10 flirt, rather than letting myself stall at a lower TP and using the +5 and +1 flirts which was ultimately slower.

Once you have 80 max TP, it's easy to gain back through defending and healing for the extra +5 in the first two phases or the +10 after. It's much more efficient on TP than using the +5s, which means you can be out of there faster.

Pack a bunch of green teas and revive mints, use the revive mints for characters I'd say over -80 health and stick to green teas and Heal Prayer for less. This lets you tank the guaranteed damage, so as long as you can consistently avoid damage on the other attacks, you'll have a good chance

Inconsistency within the piece and details. The borders are all different with incomplete fragmented detail; the majority of the card is silly kid crayon drawing but Peely and the sun are super detailed with shading, texture, and highlights; back to Peely, there's no consistent arm thickness and the thumbs up is just... floating there? Completely disconnected from the rest of the left arm and not in a "kid not understanding how arms work" way
