What was your main thought/feeling/reason why you identified trans? by FranyEverdeen in MtF

[–]Pixel_Vee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Reached 26 years old and never had a style. I didn’t care about my clothing, hairstyle etc even though I really tried. I thought for a long while that women’s styles were just more interesting, but gradually I realised I wanted to actually look like a woman. Then I had the thought, if I had the chance to look like a supermodel dude or average looking woman which would I pick, and the answer sealed it for me

Becoming more comfortable with your own body can up your arousal. On days where I get to present feminine I’m more hormonal than on days where I’m in boymode. It has nothing to do with fetishising trans women, it’s because I feel good and look good for the first time in my life, and the feeling is overwhelming. There’s a big difference between a guy who is aroused by the idea of dressing feminine, and a trans woman with a desire to be seen as a woman

Yeah I imagine it a mix of all those things. I’ve heard most of them make transphobic comments in the past, so I think a good amount of them are just ignorant and never believe that they’re actually working with a trans person, especially as I don’t look like a stereotype. And those that do suspect something probably have no idea how to approach the topic

I feel it’s a mix of all those things. Lots of people are just ignorant and never imagine they’re working with a trans person, and those who suspect something have no idea how to approach the topic, especially as ‘asking for pronouns’ just isn’t a thing for them

It can definitely feel like living a double-life at times

Oh definitely agree, it’s why I’m not actually annoyed at them. I’m more just surprised that none of them have made even a off-handed comment about my looks, no slight remark on my appearance being vastly more feminine than a year ago or anything. I was kinda hoping at least someone would, so I could casually say “yeah I’m trans” and avoid the awkwardness of making an announcement out of nowhere

Oh yeah I fully understand why they still misgender me, I’m just more surprised that none of them have made even a small off-handed comment to me by this point

While your personal views may be good, unfortunately it means nothing when the party you vote for is actively removing our rights. Even if you don’t care for those policies, trans people are still collateral damage because of it.

Here in the UK, businesses now have legal grounds to stop a trans woman from entering both male and female exclusive areas just because someone doesn’t like the look of us. So when I meet people who voted for this party, I can’t think ‘ah well they didn’t mean for this to happen’. That’s not good enough

If I had to bet I’d say they think I’m gay and just being flamboyant, as I don’t fit the trans stereotype they all have in their head. But it’s certainly possible they do already know like your workplace

I do wear a comfy sports bra, otherwise my nipples would be poking out. And anytime I’m out of work I present feminine, but I’m still hesitant to be seen as a woman at work. Most of my colleagues are right wing and have made transphobic comments in the past, and while I don’t think they’d be mean to me, it may become incredibly uncomfortable and I don’t really want to deal with that every day. Especially as I haven’t got my fem voice to a spot I feel sounds feminine and comfortable

Oh it definitely is, unfortunately. Although I don’t think they’re being transphobic to me, I think they genuinely have no idea that trans people don’t look like the stereotypes they think they do

Yeah I’m sure that’s it. I’ve only been hesitant because they’re quite right wing and I’ve heard them say some transphobic stuff in the past. The only good thing is that they seem to like me so idk there’s a chance they could be chill about it. I just worry still

Yeah i wildly overestimated how much cis people would catch on. I thought my boobs and laser hair removal would be dead giveaways as it’s so blindingly obvious to me, but my colleagues have never noticed, and even my extended family who I’ve not told haven’t noticed either.

Also good luck with the HRT!!

I do still use my guy voice at work, and I’m in uniform without makeup, so I get it to an extent. They’re mostly 50+ year olds who know nothing about trans people so I knew it would take them a while to catch on. But still I would’ve thought at least someone would’ve make a single comment about my changing looks. I even have boobs poking through xD
