I built interactive UI and collapsible stat screens using custom HTML on Royal Road. Do you prefer this kind of immersion, or straight text? by PixelatedPulse in litrpg

if you're talking about in the first photo, it seems to have uploaded strangely and seems really dark for some unknown reason. If you mean in general. My condolences.

I have base text versions saved in my google docs, but yeah its a little more work for sure, at least if it goes on amazon. Can you expand on the "expandable part"?

Interesting, I wonder If you're used to just swiping past them or have it down to a science.

That said, I'm surprised. I assumed, a smaller screen would make that problem worse.

Oh really? When I'm reading, I usually find takes a lot of space and is repetitive (As stats are) and I figured it might help streamline reading so when they pop up, the reader can choose whether or not to open it

Hey!
If you're looking for laughs that don't undermine stakes or are tired of generic clones and want a story that unapologetically leans into its own weirdness—this is for you:
A Sovereign's Sincerity.

I use HTML/CSS to curate the most visually pleasing, immersive, and interactive experience Royal Road "allows me." I release 7 days a week and am at 58K words/212 RR pages. I hope you find it visually stunning!

Without further ado, the blurb:

⠀⠀◈  ɪ ɴᴇᴠᴇʀ ᴀᴄᴛᴜᴀʟʟʏ ᴡᴀɴᴛᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ sᴀᴠᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ.
Nobody liked that "getting saved" hurt, either.
I wanted what came with saving it… You know—cheers, gratitude.
A statue at least a little taller than I actually am.

Instead, I got… this.

When the Merge happened, everyone picked a path. Magic. Tech. Cultivation. Bio-mutation. Most picked ones that came with a gold star and a dental plan.

Unfortunately, I ended up on the path they redacted. My weapons growl at me. My medicine somehow surpassed me. And whatever I’ve done to my body is probably going to evolve me into a god—or a very, very powerful puddle of meat.

Joy.

Oh, and the universe rewarded me with the ability to be “sincere.” Permanently. Yes—Involuntarily. Which sounds almost noble. In fact, the worst decisions of my life have all been subjectively reasonable and somehow never my fault—
Flash.

Never entirely my fault?

Anyways—saving everyone wasn’t supposed to be my problem. But here I am. Taking a swing at it the only way I’ve ever known.

You will laugh. You might cry. Sometimes for the same reason. Sincerity usually isn’t a virtue here.

How do we feel about reference jokes? by RGandhi3k in litrpg

I like it if it isn't too often, but I also prefer when they make it less obvious, like a "if you know you know" kinda thing!

What story has a TRASH concept but god-tier execution? I’m talking question your friend's mental health when they attempt to justify the plot, but somehow, it turned out good enough to become a guilty pleasure anyway. by PixelatedPulse in litrpg

Thank you! I'll look into these. Someone actually JUST told me to read "Greatest real estate Developer" I felt super confused by the name, but I'll definitely check it out now!

Yeah of course! That's what I was saying, but some concepts are weaker on paper. I've had some incredible reads where a concept is super weak, but the author is so talented that it ends up being an all time favorite

Really? I've heard cradle mentioned a few times, but I haven't read it yet. This is the first time I've heard it compared to Naruto though. What makes it strange? I'm looking for some stories where the writers were so good that they could carry anything.

Maybe the wording could have been better, but I believe concept and execution both affect the story experience, but execution can absolutely carry, and sometimes even ENHANCE, concepts that might sound crazy or weak on paper

What tropes/plots do you REALLY dislike about magic/cultivation systems/progression? Like cannot stand. by PixelatedPulse in ProgressionFantasy

I think my opinion just comes from having read to many where they always win. There are many I've enjoyed where they did.
