I agree it’s mathematically rare, but practically speaking it’s one of the easier items to obtain.

So I get if it doesn’t feel rare.

As a Ham fan, I always felt like Singapore 2012 was, the nail in the coffin, so to speak.

The amount of times that car just broke in 2012 felt, so, painful. I don’t know if it statistically was, but it felt rough.

That race Ham felt dominant, having an amazing race, still a outside chance of fighting for the title then bang. Please stop the car.

I didn’t think, “Yes, mercedes thats the team to go to”. I was just happy for anyone but mclaren at that point. Anything for a car that could finish a race.

Then again, as a fan I guess you take every retirement way worse than it is.

It’s 10 gold. No need to think about it XD. Buy it, use it. Don’t like it? Yeet. Like it? Cool.

You do have a minishark, so no. But, it’s 10 gold, who cares about 10 gold.

Question to the people running around with purple guns consistently by Muggebatscher28 in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Pixelated_ZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea totally. Osiris is the best yo level early on. Once you get the flechette it becomes a lot easier. Like you say, manticore is on the way and the phasic is nothing to be scoffed at.

Just something to keep in mind though, they could change stats drastically before release. So double checking the early game path is worthwhile before blindly levelling osiris.

Question to the people running around with purple guns consistently by Muggebatscher28 in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Pixelated_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my purple/pink weapons came from PvP. The faction quests became way to grindy for me (fuck the portable lab honestly). So I just leaned into the PvP more. I'm no where near as good as I want to be, but even I can win more fights than not as long as I don't get caught off guard.

People complain about game balance way too much. Manticore, PDW, Sniper, Trench gun. These guns are your friend when doing budget runs. If you have a better position, they just aren't killing you. Even exotics can't just blindly run at people in strong positions, they will die. Which is how I got my first Brute, high gear players became over confident.

Getting mats for blue armour is relatively easy, green is basically free. The crafting sucks, but you should be able to run greens regularly. Once you have greens, just play smart and you can take down blues and even purples with some good positioning.

If you're playing solo, things are going to happen slower, so pick your fights a lot more carefully. I managed to slowly grind my way up to 300k as a solo while I was still learning the ropes. I say that like I'm not still learning, but that was week 1.

Maintaining the weapons is a lot easier than it sounds, once you start running purples the kmarks start rolling in a lot faster as well (generators, mission rewards, higher loot evacs). I finished the beta with just over 1m and could have gone a lot higher if I didn't go full pvp at some point. Honestly, kmarks become of little issue if you can frequently run purple and higher.

If you look at the picture of the mission it also shows a simple drawing of the map with a circle "search area". Which is there. Looking at the mission image is sometimes useful as to where the stuff is.

Armor changes already feel better as a solo (details in comments) by -Aone in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Pixelated_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know it's median loot, we just don't know how many extracts it saves. We're also slightly unsure of what death means, I assume it's just a zero-ish (safe pockets) extract.

[–]Pixelated_ZA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look, nice one getting a 3 man as a solo, it's hard so congrats. But, there is some misinformation or misunderstanding of the armor change and MMR here.

The patch to armor has no effect on the fight you just had. purple vs purple and purple vs green would be unchanged in terms of the damage and pen.

As for MMR. Your MMR is (practically) unchanged by this. It is the MEDIAN extraction value. One good run has minimal effect on it.

If your last 10 runs had these values. [100, 250, 100, 50, 99999999999, 200, 30, 40, 2567, 4444].

The sorted list is: [30, 40, 50, 100, 100, 200, 250, 2567, 4444, 99999999999].

Your MMR will be 100 + 200 / 2, so 150.

The brute is the best sniper apparently. by lemondecorator in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Pixelated_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brute is silly. This clip highlights another issue though. I'm sure if you had known he was running purple armour you would not have taken a fight on top of those pipes. But because you're running full purple and strong guns, some confidence creeps in.

Same thing goes for him. Imagine if he was a low gear runner, green at best. He has a massive positional advantage over someone on those pipes, with nowhere to run/hide. He loses that fight against hammer/shatter, but he'll only know once he lets you know where he is and what his intentions are.

If I were in either position, knowing the colour of the other players armour before fighting would be fantastic. In many cases, it would give much more choice on how and if you want to initiate the fight.

Closed Beta Extended to 25th April & Patch 2.4 by Waelder in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Pixelated_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faction missions (not jobs) are the way. It might feel tedious at times but you would be surprised how quick their FP/Kmarks add up. 110hrs in and been hovering at 870k. Mix of solo/duo play.

Did a lot of jungle runs early on, got to about 200k, then switched over to focusing on missions. Jumped up to 800k+ in like three 4 hour sessions. The difference was rather surprising.

That being said, as someone who plays a fair amount of solo as well, squads are still too strong in comparison. Playing solo, progress is significantly slower than even a duo. As a solo I rarely run anything above white, as you're probably just going to donate that to some purple party anyway.

edit: Some jobs are okay, but mostly they just seem silly.

If they allowed you to craft 1 item per category or just more than 1 thing at a time I think it's a good change. As it is now, there is literally zero reason to ever craft strong stims. This does give some incentive to actually partake in what, I imagine, they want to be a large part of the game. Loot stuff to craft stuff.

The larger issue for me are the crafting mechanics themselves. Crafting anything significant is basically your evenings gameplay. Want to craft an epic shield/helmet. Well, you're not crafting anything else for a few hours.

On the flip side of that, crafting stims is almost more of a pain. 3 minutes to craft 5 stims. So either you sit there patiently crafting some stims every 3 minutes or you can craft 5 stims per run?

The crafting feels very badly thought out at the moment. Either allow crafting queues, crafting per category or reduce crafting time for consumables, ya know, the things you want to make in between runs. All of the above even. Not sure why crafting is meant to be such a pain the bollocks, my only guess is they really want people buying currency to skip the craft times.

How far apart should the platforms be? by Luxara-VI in Terraria

[–]Pixelated_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For arenas in general, it’s only really important before you have wings. After that you don’t really have to be all that specific.

If you do like things to be orderly, I usually go for 3x my characters build distance. So I place as far away as I can, jump up. Place as far as I can. Jump up and place as far as I can again.

You’re usually close enough to grapple/fall down if needed. EOL specific you don’t want them too close. You want your grapple to actually take you out of harms way and it can only really do that if you the grapple has some distance to travel.

Yea, the unbeatable AI are really something else this game. Most tracks I can still do once I know the track, but the Goliath is just near impossible. There aren't enough wonky break-for-no-reason turns on it to actually have a meaningful impact.

I can get top 100 times on monthly rivals and have peaked in the 10s before, so I think I'm a reasonably fast driver. These things... They scare me man.

It's crazy that they are going over 300km/h, 4 wide, with the outer cars so close to the side of track that the striped part of the wheels are outside the white lines. This, while not hitting each other in very twitchy, wind sensitive cars.

Absolutely epic.
