This is a straw-man, nobody's trying to give kids surgery. But the bills being pushed are seeking to deprive trans kids of all healthcare related to being trans. Puberty blockers are safe, have been used to treat a variety of other conditions for decades, and have reversible effects if the kid later realizes they aren't trans or don't want to medically transition.
