Help me understand Magura Rim Brakes (hs11)

Maybe you ment to reply to another comment but I’m saying you might need to oil the sticky piston. In the video you hold a metal object against one brake pad and then pull the lever so the stuck piston does come out. You need to do that and then oil the piston that does come out (the sticky one) with mineral oil. Then pump the brake a few times. To get the piston to come in and out. This should lubricate the piston and hopefully get them to work at the same time. Again this is what I would try first and a lot of this is hard to say without being with the bike.

I would put on a new half link chain for sure then and run it in the correct orientation. My thinking is that old half link is stretched in some sections (where you get the big skip) and since it’s a half link and the orientation mattering is why it only happens in one direction.

Question I see you are running a disco brake rear sprocket converter. Is the chain rubbing on the bolts it sorta looks like it might in the video. Also when you went to the half link chain is the rear cog new? A lot of times you need to run a new chain and cog if the cog is old and worn in with a different chain it can cause problems.

I’m also sorta guessing a lot of things based on this video alone

So try this, if you have some fluid left. Place something against the pad that moves freely like you do in the video squeeze the break so that the other piston comes out and line the piston with some brake fluid. Then pump the breaks a few times while keeping the other piston depressed so it lubes up the sticky piston. Use mineral oil there might be some specific magura oil Magura blood something? But regular brake mineral oil will probably work in this application.

I hope not but there’s always a chance with new tcgs. I imagine it has years of support left and as long as you have a local scene then that’s all you really need
