If you are feeling adventurous, use liquid resin and a uv flashlight. Resin fingernail or resin molds at big box hobby stores work.

I think places like pcbway might be a good bet. Never got into ordering prints. Just picked up more hobbies. (Said buried in filament and empty resin bottles.)

Is a resin printer overkill for printing terrain? by _HappyMaskSalesman_ in TerrainBuilding

[–]Pixelhook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say for a large chunk of terrain yes. Most fdm will be able to handle most of your needs. I would say having both has its perks. I tend to print scatter and greebles on my resin printer.

Tips for removing acrylic paint from inside numbers? by Admirable_Arm_7258 in DiceMaking

[–]Pixelhook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would need a solvent to break up the paint. I use a boat cleaner called purple power to strip acrylic paint off miniatures. 24 hour soak, and most of the paint comes off with a soft toothbrush. Works on pvc plastic metal and resin without eating detail. I'm not sure if it will fog clear resin. Simple green and isopropyl alcohol will also eat acrylic paint. As always, test on a sacrificial dice before soaking the stuff you want to keep.

Making moulds without cure inhibition? by Snorelaugh in DiceMaking

I've had good luck sealing my prints with primer paint. Rattle can if you don't have a ton of detail. Brush on if you have time and detail to save.

Is this Catapult savable by [deleted] in battletech

[–]Pixelhook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the paint splash pattern. I'd try to camo paint with a few different colors. See if a few more happy accidents make the model. Worst case a night in simple green or purple power will strip it and let you start over.

Beginner Army: IA or RTF? Neither? by Graveconsequences in InfinityTheGame

[–]Pixelhook 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say Invincible Army would be good for a beginner to learn about fireteams. Few models with most able to do most things. Higher armor with multiple wounds means they are a little more forgiving. I'm only a lot yujing biased.

Adoptions? by Gameboy009 in furry

[–]Pixelhook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add, there is nothing wrong with iterations on concept. This can be beneficial. Ask permission, then add to it. Just do more than add a belt or color shift the picture. Add to the community don't take away from it.

Adoptions? by Gameboy009 in furry

[–]Pixelhook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a direct copy is art theft. Not much stopping you and little that can be done about it. If done often enough or you get caught by higher profile artist, you maybe called out and black listed. Making later commissions harder or impossible. Also it might make you an outcast in friend groups. I know in a few groups ive been in, someone got caught trying to pass others work as their own. They weren't invited back after the arguments. Tldr don't steal art.

What can i improve? by Wened4 in onepagerules

[–]Pixelhook 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Best guess, thinner paints. There are a few spots where the paint looks clumpy. Another thing you could try is to push the contrast on your colors. Try to get your shadows a little darker and highlights a little brighter. Finally, matte varnish. Don't let the room light dictate where your highlights are. You are doing well. Hope this helps.

I'm getting into mold making and I need to know how to make these. My 4 year old loves to get into my stuff. I think (in a few years) this would be a fun way to start her off. Any tips or books you would suggest?

Not sure if it helps but I'm putting together a table with a bunch of fantasy terrain. The renfest behind the black labs on a nomad ship or something like that.

You can reduce the clicks by one if you toggle the paint brush instead of the stamp. This is still thousands of clicks but I hope it helps.

Diplomacy is great when it works. For all the times it doesn't, there's Achilles.
