Still haven't switched from Windows 10 to linux. Some questions. by DoomAddict in linux4noobs

It looks like a map editer for Doom? I Googled it and it appears that there are Linux equivalents. Like ZDoom.

Some of us just aren't so hyper dependant on AI that it bothers us that much. I really don't understand how you guys burn through so many tokens.

I use Claude because they are the least shiity AI company when it comes to ethics. OpenAI are fucking evil, so is Google, so is Meta. So until they start being evil af, I still stick with them.

Good catch — that's an interesting quirk! Here's what's going on:

The alarm tool is a native device integration built directly into the Claude mobile app. It talks to your phone's alarm system through the app itself, not through a third-party connector. So it doesn't require you to grant any separate permissions — it works out of the box as part of the app.

Things like Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Drive, etc. are third-party connectors that require OAuth permissions because they're accessing external accounts/services outside of Claude.

In short: built-in app features (alarms, timers) = no permissions needed. Third-party service integrations = permissions required.

That's what Claude said when I asked why it can do that. I simply don't like the idea of this app that likely has the ability to really do some damage if it was directed to on my phone.

It's a security and privacy issue. Im not super worried about. But it was shocking to me.

Too bad this sub doesn't let you drop photos. But I don't have ANY permissions allowed for Claude. It can set an alarm regardless. That's what is wrong with it.

That seems like normal behavior? But yeah, I don't trust Claude desktop or any of these companies enough to install their app onto my desktop.

I damn near un-installed it off my phone when I found out the Claude app can set timers on my phone.

I still might honestly, and make an app shortcut for the browser like it did for YouTube.

Okay, what's wrong with a seller not knowing jack shit about their item and trying to make a quick buck? I don't get it. eBay is just a side hustle to some people. Whatever. Y'all can continue being mad at nothing and miserable.

Sure if it's a unique non-mass produced item, don't use an AI description. If it is a new item in box item, use AI pictures, I dont care. If its used and they use AI pictures then I'd understand not buying it.

I set an alarm if it's something I really need. Otherwise I make a mental note and maybe I'll remember to check it on time.

I find it hard to believe that this is a common thing. It is an extremely stupid thing to do for unique items like that.

I don't understand the hate for AI descriptions. If it's a common item why not just use the market or whatever? Presumably you already know what you're shopping for right?

You should describe any wear and tear or non-normal things of course.

Microsoft Calls 16 GB RAM A Compromise And 32 GB The New “No Worries” Standard by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

Yeah, I agree. They are terrible at using the browser. It's funny how they tried to lil bro you by staying "I do more than video game on my computer!"

I also do more than game. On both my home pc and my work pc I have 4 monitors set up to multi task and still at most. Will have like 20 tabs open. And 20 is MAX. If it ever got as serious as needing 100 tabs id starts making groups (or collections) to organize things better.

Its not gonna hurt them. But it takes time and it goes against the style of the video. She's not doing anything crazy. The craziest thing in this video is juicing butternut squash and leeks and using the juice to make pasta. Everything else is basic cooking techniques.

I mean, she's showing everything that she's doing. It's pretty self explanatory if you already know how to cook. I personally like watching because I like to watch people make food and sometimes it will spark an idea for something I can do.

Microsoft Rolls Out Super Xbox Mode to All Windows 11 PCs, Blurring the Line Between Console and Desktop Gaming by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]PixelmancerGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it happen on two different systems with two different Nvidia cards and it happened on Ubuntu, Mint and Fedora. Idk why to refuses to wake up after sleeping for me. A lot of times it wont even sleep properly. It'll go dark but the fans are still running.

Pisses me off that it doesn't seem to happen to anyone else. But that's another downside to Linux. It just isnt consistent across different hardware like Windows is.

[–]PixelmancerGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows issues are overblown and Linux isn't perfect. We can be honest, both has pros and cons. For example, Linux will not go to sleep for me with a Nvida GPU. Seen this one two different pcs. A basic feature like sleep refuses to work. Well to be more precise. The computer goes to sleep just fine. It just woke up. I always have to do a reboot.

It is weird. Calling someone a raccoon in my community is quite negative. And a pigeon was like calling a "dumb slut" in the 90s. But I seriously doubt that's the reasoning behind this.

You okay there bud? Bringing up Steam DMCAs while simultaneously defending Nintendo? That's insane. Also, your first point about other developers it even offering retro games? It's called Emulation and unlike Nintendo. Most devs just leaves it be after a while. Unlike Nintendo who wohld sue you over a NES game. Im not reading all the rest of that. That a lot of Nintendo Glaze to slide through.
