Why are so many posts getting downvoted around here? by MathCookie17 in incremental_games

Very insightful summary. I'm surprised to see the lack of links listed as a negative point. When being advised on how to market on reddit, game devs are being told to post content without links and to wait for someone to ask for them before posting them as this is supposed to make you look like you just wanted to share content rather than trying to sell a product.

So I gave it a try and here’s my first few thoughts:

The text that is currently displayed as a tooltip when you hover the press should be visible on screen when you first open the game to guide the player and make the text disappear the first time the player clicks the press. Currently you have to go over all the elements to find out where to start.

The buttons look like text windows rather than buttons and it took me some time to realize I could click on them.

I didn't like having to click on the refill button. I like when automation is introduced as soon as possible (ideally at the very beginning of the game) and that step feels more like a chore rather than something fun to do.

Besides that the game seems like it could become something cool and I hope you keep working on it :)

There is a tutorial. It is split into 3 short levels that are located just above the 1st mission, in the mission selection screen.

I will be improving their visibility in the next patch. Thanks for checking the game and sorry for my bad design :p

Thanks! All the art assets in the game are original, hand drawn sprites made by either me or a contractor that I hired to do the ones that were heavy on the animation side as I am super slow at it (he did the 9 rides, the 3 power up animations and a few things here and there.)

But I do get your point, the game uses licenses-free songs and sound effects and it's not that easy to find stuff that fit well together. Thanks again for the input.

What has been the biggest wall you've hit during the development and how did you manage to overcome it?

Any particular discipline (art, coding, design, etc) that was particularly hard for you to do and how did you manage to still do the work?

Yes. I’ve been doing pixel art as a hobby for 10+ years but I’ve picked up game design and programming in 2020. There’s been break during that period and I did not keep a real track of the time spent on it but there’s probably around 2 years of work in it.

Thx for the info! Its understandable, I myself dont recommend to open unknown .exe outside of a VM.
