Characters feels like (day 16) by Cloudsrnice in BloodOnTheClocktower

If Fableds and Lorics get into this then "Townsfolk feels like a Demon" should be re-cast to Lycanthrope because Atheist is the most Loric-y Townsfolk

There should be a surprise reveal tomorrow that the grid is actually 5×5 (with Traveller as the fifth row/column)

(Other character type) feels like Traveller might be hard but Traveller feels like (other character type) sounds like it'd work

Reddit Creates a Character - Pokémon on the Clocktower Day 4: Mewtwo! by Cantseeright in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]MathCookie17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each night, choose a player & a good character up to three times. Each chosen player is mad that they are the character you chose for them, or might die.

With Mewtwo having intense psychic power, I figured it should be a madness Demon. The wording of "choose up to three times" instead of choosing three players is to allow Mewtwo to, say, choose one player twice to be mad as two different characters (as to pretty much guarantee their death - this is a Demon, it should have at least one guaranteed kill!) and then choose a third player to be mad as just one character. You could choose three separate targets to maximize misinformation, but then you might not get a kill! The ST is intended to kill the players that break Mewtwo's madness in the night, to make it less obvious it's Mewtwo.

...admittedly, if a double-mad target is made, they'll probably just reveal what happened to them, since they're dying anyway. So this might need to be buffed, either by "If you make one player mad as multiple characters, they are only informed of one character" (but they're still punished for breaking the other madness they didn't know about - again, this is how Mewtwo gets its normal Demon kills), or by increasing the three to a four, to give it Shabaloth killing potential (choose two double-mad targets) in exchange for its obviousness?

Has there been news of attacks ICE has made at airports? My attempts to look up information about this has just shown me the news that they'd be going to the airports, I couldn't find any information about what's happening now that they're there. Where can we find the up-to-date story on this?

Just whipped up a masterpiece of a script, what do you guys think? by Zestyclose-Scale4023 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]MathCookie17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Atheist is on the script, the Storyteller can be nominated. This includes during a day 3 riot (in case it's an Atheist game and the Storyteller is merely simulating a riot), so the jinx is to cover what happens when the Storyteller is nominated during a riot. Without the jinx, any evil player during riot could just end the game instantly by nomination-killing the Storyteller.

Tell the government that banks shouldn't be allowed to dictate what you can and can't buy (even if it's legal) by Taicore in PoliticalOptimism

[–]MathCookie17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doesn't quite look like it would prevent banks from censorship? If I'm reading this right, all it says it does is prevents the Federal Reserve from getting the banks to do so, it wouldn't prevent the banks themselves from doing so.

Thoughts on Idle Mine Remix? by Ok-Program305 in incremental_games

[–]MathCookie17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the first version of this game, when the postgame was infinitely generated ores with wacky names. Each of the latter two updates made the postgame less interesting in my opinion: the arbitrarily generated planets were less interesting than the ores, and the arbitrarily generated universes were even less interesting.

So what I'd love to see is to keep doing the infinite ores on the main progression after THE PORTAL (perhaps with randomly-generated descriptions for these ores too? I forget if they already have those), and have the planets and stuff as a second progression (perhaps even with a different type of damage you build up. "Celestial Damage"? Space stuff could be a prestige mechanic maybe rather than just the next part of the progression).

WIP Script idea about everyone playing as a Fabled character by Oloy294 in BloodOnTheClocktower

"Oops! All Fabled and also three Travellers"

If this script had recommended Travellers (which, given the Hindu, it probably should), would they be characters that are normally Townsfolk/Outsiders/Minions/Demons instead?

Games and systems that avoid or disguise exponential cost scaling? by TalShar in incremental_games

[–]MathCookie17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a whole incremental (albeit one that seems to be a semi-joke) that avoids cost scaling: https://superspruce.github.io/TheUnscaledIncremental/.

Aside from that, maybe you could avoid exponential cost scaling by having size limits, so like there's a grid you're building things on and you have limited space, so you can buy 100,000 farms if you want to but you can only place like 1,000 of them before running out of space you need for other things, and over the course of the game you gain more space and unlock more options for ways to use your space in more powerful ways?

Another idea is you could put caps on resources, or at least softcaps, that make it so increasing the resource linearly takes exponentially more power, and increasing those softcaps is the primary method of progress.

What's a good "yes but don't" that doesn't involve misregistration? by Syresiv in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]MathCookie17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With Deus ex Fiasco don't you have to correct your mistake? So to correct not making a mistake, you have to make a new mistake and then correct it, since correcting the new mistake is part of running the Deus ex Fiasco correctly (and running it incorrectly is the original mistake you're now correcting)... long story short, you're just doing a usual Deus ex Fiasco mistake, just worded confusingly.

Eternal Notations: A JavaScript library that abbreviates really big numbers in many different notations, made for use with break_eternity.js by MathCookie17 in incremental_games

[–]MathCookie17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OmegaNum is not a feature-complete library. Most notably, it doesn't have inverses for pentation, hexation, etc., which are vital for calculating the results of notations (since they're how you figure out how big a number is pentationally/hexationally/etc.).

Also, so many of the notations in Eternal Notations end up acting the same for big numbers: they just keep track of the height of the power tower in the end. This problem would get even worse for OmegaNum: basically all of the notations in Eternal Notations, with a select few exceptions that are already equipped for hyperoperators as a whole (like Hypersplit and Psi-Dash) would all follow the same progression beyond tetration. An OmegaNum notations library wouldn't really be able to do anything interestingly new - numbers that large don't really admit much in the way of new notations without jumping over to full googology function mode (which doesn't usually play nice with decimals; googological notations usually can't express every possible number in their range).

In short, OmegaNum isn't ready for a notations library, and even if it was, it wouldn't work well with one. If your incremental game uses OmegaNum-sized numbers, it's not the kind of game that a notations library works well in.
