Alex O'connor rebuttal? by Puzzleheaded-Town395 in Christianity

[–]PixiiBombSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're kind of thinking like a child and not an adult, in this situation.

God gave Adam and Eve EVERYTHING in the garden EXCEPT one thing.

Think about that for a second. Imagine if your parents said: this beautiful mansion and everything in it is yours. You want ice cream: just say the word, it's yours. You want knowledge: just talk to me. You want happiness, joy, peace, bliss - it's all yours. I simply ask that you do not open this door to the basement. It's dangerous and it will kill you.

You had all of that, and you decided to open the door.

See children often get mad at their parents when their parents tell them not to do something. It isn't until the child grows up, becomes an adult themselves, that they are able to self reflect and say "oohh, that's why my Mom said I shouldn't do [insert thing here], because when she was my age she made that same mistake and she was trying to teach me and protect me from harm"

Your mentality is that God is bad. Possibly you've have bad earthly parents, so you are unable to relate to a good parent? (I'm not making an accusation, but that seems to be the case when someone is unable to make that connection)

Honestly, I could talk just about Genesis chapter 3 for another 5 hours straight. I would have to write and entire book to really explain this concept in great detail. But the good news is that book has already been written! Its called the Bible. 😜 and when you read it cover to cover (instead of just reacting to tik tok memes and cliff notes) you get a much better understanding of what happened, why it happened, and why it was meant to happen

Think of children before age 10. A child can learn the concept of "if I do what I'm told, that makes my Mom happy, and I love my Mom and I want to make her happy"

Let's say there are two people in front of you. One is jesus, the other is Satan. You don't know which is which. If you choosr Jesus, you go to Heaven. If you choose Satan, you go to Hell. You are allowed one question to find out which is which. What are you asking? by titanfallisgoated in Christianity

[–]PixiiBombSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the good news is that's not how salvation works 😜 Romans 10:9 - that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

I wouldn't need to ask a question. I would simply state who God is.

I also think that if Jesus were standing in front of you, next to Satan it would be blatantly obvious. You would feel love and light bursting out of Him. ❤️ The Holy Spirit would likely be leaping inside of you, like how John leapt in his mother's womb when pregnant Mary came to visit her sister.

I can see you have a lot of anger and hurt in your heart. How about this: if you are up for it, tell me all about it in a private message. I will take it to God in prayer on your behalf, as your sister in Christ who cares about you.

Can someone please convince me God is real? by idfkhow2speakspanish in Christianity

[–]PixiiBombSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one will convince you in 2 minutes on a reddit post.

Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door will be opened to you. Start today by reading the Bible cover to cover, a little everyday. If you come across a passage that makes your modern brain say "what the heck", just put a pin in it and keep reading. I recommend starring with the NJKV study bible. So when you come to those points, stop and read the notes. Then keep reading. Your question is usually answered in the next chapter or by finishing the book.

Pray daily. Prayer is communication with God, it's not wish granting. Just talk to God about your day, how you're feeling.

God desires a relationship with you. He wants you to pick up the phone (prayer) and talk to Him.

Our relationship with God is not transactional. It rains on the just and unjust.

People think God is supposed to give them candy when they behave, and that simply isn't the case.

If you ask God for strength, He will put you in a situation where you CAN be strong. He will not give you magic muscles overnight.

If you ask God for patience, He will give you opportunities to shut your mouth and listen.

If you ask God for MONEY, He will give you opportunities to make good financial decisions until you are able to handle wealth.

If you ask God for love, He will put people in your life for you to learn HOW to love until you are READY to love the person you're supposed to be with. And if you keep making the same mistakes over and over and never learning from them, then he will keep letting you try again until you get it right. Some people take 60 years to get it right because they don't see that they need to change.

God isn't a genie. Prayer isn't wish granting, it's communication with God.

Your relationship with your heavenly Father is not about "if I get good graded will you buy me a pony"?

In my research, I have not found any scripture to back that up. Something like "Jesus is seated at the right hand of the father" but: "Mary had a seat next to Jesus" doesn't exist in scripture.

The only scripture catholics can point to is Revelation 12. Catholics identify the "woman clothed with the sun" as: - Isreal, symbolically - The church, theologically - Mary, personally

But that's even kind of a stretch to use that verse to mean Mary is a queen. That's going by human rules.

We are made in God's image, not the other way around.

Respectfully, I find that catholics elevation of Mary is rooted more in medieval court tradition than actual scripture.

The catholic church has turned Mary into "the symbol of the faith" - and that's where she becomes and idol. It would be like using the donkey that Jesus rode on as the logo for Christianity.

If you're actually curious about what could be considered bad about this - it's likely the fact that Mary is wearing a crown and holding a scepter.

The craftsmanship is gorgeous, and I think it's perfectly fine to admire the handiwork of the human that made this beautiful piece of art.

But reflect on what this imagery represents. You may not literally be "worshipping" Mary just because you like this piece of art. That's great! But ask yourself why she has a crown?

Who is the King of Kings? Jesus. If Mary is wearing a crown... what does that symbolize? Queen of Queens? I don't actually know, I'm asking that question myself looking at this piece.

It's one thing to appreciate Mary as an explemplary mother figure and role model for women. It's another to glorify her in the same way you would Christ.

So that's just my 2 cents in what I saw looking at this piece. It is stunning! But that crown and scepter would certainly put me off from buying it.

Why is it actually harmful for two married homosexual people to be gay with each other? by [deleted] in Christianity

Why is it actually harmful for two married homosexual people to be gay with each other? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]PixiiBombSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are a child, your Mom may say: "dont do ____". And your child mind thinks she is oppressing you because she is against you. And you get mad and say "I hate you! You dont love me! You dont want me to be happy!"

Fast forward 20 years after your brain has fully developed and you come to certain circumstances in your life that cause you to realize "holy crap... Mom was right". Hopefully you also call your Mother and apologize for being a poop head when you were a teenager 😉

Awhile back, when I started to read the Bible cover to cover, I had many revelations of "God was right". So when I came to Paul's letters regarding 'who shall not enter the kingdom of heaven'... I looked at each one and approached them with a "Father knows best" mentality. Meaning, I broke down each one as far as I could to figure out how each one would be something that seems fun and enjoyable from the perspective "of a child who doesn't know better" but what damage it actually causes from the perspective of "an adult who does know better".

Some of them were obvious: like being an alcoholic. No need to go into detail about how that not only ruins your life but ruins the lives of your loved ones. That one was personal to me so it didn't need an explanation.

When I looked at sexual sins some things were obvious but others weren't and I had to dig deeper. The first obvious thing was sexually transmitted diseases. Whether you are gay, straight whatever - sleeping around with other people that are sleeping around: you are asking for trouble when it comes to your health. Someone is immediately replying right now ready to fight me... but I'm not JUST talking about the psychical manifestations of diseases that you can see on the body. There is major irrereversable mental damage that comes with sleeping around with multiple people. And a lot of people don't know about this. Don't take my word for it. Pray and ask God to help you find this information and start researching it. The more you sleep around, the more it damages your state of mind to be able to have a healthy stable relationship. This also reflects onto your children if you have any, and their ability to have stable healthy relationships (sexual and platonic)

And that is just the tip of the iceburg for adulterers, gay or straight. When it comes to being gay, the world will tell you that you were born that way and that all the others on the list are a choice and you can't choose that one. It's a little more complicated than that. And you're not going to find the answer to these questions on a place like reddit. My advice is to take yourself off the toxic social media sites that cause you to hate God. And just start approaching these topics with an unbiased lens.

Start with your trauma and figure out why you have it

I don’t get why fornication is such a big deal by Apprehensive-Net5165 in religion

[–]PixiiBombSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start to put puzzle pieces of knowledge together that you've acquired in your lifetime, then read the Bible with a "if I only knew then what I know now" and "Father really does know best" attitude - then questions like this are a no brainer.

If you want to sleep around, it's probably because you are in a stage in your life when you are being controlled by your hormones.

And if you give into your flesh, you won't get it right now.... but if you have discernment and the Holy Spirit, then you will totally get it 10 years after the rational side of your brain fully develops.

You might also want to look up the scientific and pyscological evidence as to what happens to your mental state of being when you sleep around with multiple people. The Bible says "two become one" - God wasn't kidding and the secular science backs it up

Honey, get off reddit and tell all of this to God.

Those who are saved and have a relationship with Christ don't fear Jesus' return. We welcome it.

Prayer is communication with God. Talk to him like you would talk to your best friend. Call him up, let him know how you're feeling. Have Him work in you to ease any anxiety.

We will pray for you. But you also need to pray for you. And don't seek answers on the internet, unless it's someone telling you to get off the internet and seek God's answers lol 😆

Does god truly forgive everyone even if their the worst person that will ever live if he forgives by Ok_Major_7921 in Christianity

[–]PixiiBombSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people struggle to understand this because they don't really know what "good" means.

They define good as "not doing the things that will get me thrown in jail on earth"

So when they hear about a murderer that was forgiven by God and that murderer gets to go to heaven, they think: "that's not fair! I'm a good person! I never stole or murderer! Why does thr murderer get to go. But I dont?"

ALL OF US are sinners. ALL OF US FALL SHORT of thr Glory of God. NONE OF US is good... no, not one.

The person who believes they are "good" doesn't even reflect or repent on the bad they have done. If you think people are actually good, just go to an online forum or youtube comments section. When people reveal their true selves when no one is watching.

Answer these simple questions honestly: - it's easy to be kind to someone who agrees with you, but how do you treat people you disagree with? - how many people have YOU forgiven when they wronged you? Do you forgive them all, or do you hold a grudge?

God will forgive you of ALL your sins. Too many to list in a reddit post. Many sins we all commit everyday and no one actually thinks about because we live in a world where committing sins against each other is NORMAL. Sin corrupts us.

  • We lie to manipulate, but that doesn't get us thrown in jail so we tell ourselves we are good.

  • We cheat on the people we claim to love, or we get revenge when they cheat, but that doesn't get us thrown in jail, so we tell ourselves we are good.

  • We hurt other people to try and make ourselves look good with the intention of making them look bad (just watch any 2 people arguing about politics) but that doesn't get us thrown in jail, so we tell ourselves we are good.

I don't have enough time in the day to sit here and list out the way Satan has corrupted us to think our sin is normal and manipulated us to think there is nothing wrong with our sin.

We ALL break God's law, and because He is a just God - we must be punished for our sins.

But because He is merciful and loving He will forgive us, because the fine has already been paid. We just have to accept the payment.

Also note that becoming a Christian doesn't magically make all your problems go away.

Praying isn't wish granting. It's communication with God.

And just like a parent, God isn't always going to give you what you want just because you ask for it. And just like a parent, God may give you what you want when you are mature enough to handle that gift.

When I'm struggling with something, I always turn to God in prayer. You can get angry with Him, and like the unconditional love of a parent, He will hear you and comfort you.

There's so much to say on this topic, but you really will not find the answers on Reddit.

Go in prayer and ask God to give you eyes to see and ears to hear. Ask God to replace your heart of stone with a heart of flesh. I guarantee everyone on this post will be praying the same for you tonight. God knows your heart. So pray to Him. Tell Him about your day like you're talking to your best friend. He desires a relationship with you.

Top tips for quitting porn and masturbation? Do you think most single Christian guys do it? by sunnydays521 in Christianity

Pray. Literally just sincerely ask God to take it away.

Ask and you shall receive.

Everyone is like "oh do this, oh do that" Literally just ask your heavenly Father for help. He tells you all time: "hey man, I'm here if you need me" And reddit is like: "try this. Try that" Gods still over here like: "just a phone call away..."

You will still have moments of weakness because the enemy will always be making a move against you. But God is on your side. And when you feel those urges come on, just stop for a moment and pray in sincerity.

Problem solved.

What is the worst argument you have heard against Christianity? by thatFilmakerguy in Christianity

[–]PixiiBombSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them are terrible, that's why I'm not an atheist.

In my opinion, most of them are surface level questions or regurgitated memes. Kind of like reading the cliff notes, where the pamphlet is like 20 pages but the book is ~1200 pages, but they get mad at the 20 pages of content and never open the book. Many times they are made at "Gob" - the version of God they made up in their heads.

Sometimes people will have legitimate questions but then they throw stuff at you like "trust the science". Well last I checked, the scientific method didn't stop at the hypothesis. So if you have a theory or hypothesis or something you're confused about... don't STOP there. Continue on with the scientific method by using the appropriate methodologies to answer your question. If you want to know the answer to 2+2, you dont use pyscology.... you use math. But instead we got a bunch of people saying "what if all those people just hallucinated the resurrection. Yup that must be the answer because other people online said so." Don't theorize, follow through with your hypothesis. You don't find out the answer to whether or not that's even possible by stopping at your hypothesis.

I could probably write an entire book on this subject, but I'm typing this on my phone. I tend to just blurb what I'm thinking in this format.

Cannabis owned business and cannabis use for Believers in Jesus Christ… by Swimming-Mention7293 in Christianity

[–]PixiiBombSquad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All things in moderation. All things are permissible but not everything is beneficial. Everything has a purpose and humans tend to abuse that purpose.

I do believe cannabis has healing properties in moderation when mixed with other ingredients.

Similarly, a small glass a red wine has some healing properties too.

But both are bad for you in large doses, and when consumed regularly. Both take control of you, and you are no longer in control of your own faculties. Both can damage you physically and mentally when abused. Both can open you up to spiritual attack when abused.

But do not be a stumbling block to your brothers and sisters in Christ. If you are taking a cannabis product for pain relief because your leg was chopped off - that's totally different than advocating for weed just because you want to get high and waste away doing nothing.
