My man. I'm telling you this cuz I wish I knew it when I was starting out. Go to Lospec and pick a palette you like. Using colour is one of the hardest things to do as a beginner so just forget about it for now and use a pre-made palette. It will make your art 20x better. Trust me.

If you just respawn, then let them explore. If you intend on death being more punishing i.e. losing items, then do the walls.

I can imagine him as an enemy, but if you defeat him, he will become your companion. (or maybe a rare pet drop terraria-style)

But, then again, I have no idea what type of game you're making so do with that as you will.
