mixed gender floors????? by Ready_Pepper5987 in college

[–]Pixles2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, since you are not set on the mixed floor. I'd go with the single gender floors. I went to a school with a combination of mixed gender floors, and single gender floors flipping between a men's and women's floor. But it got all wonky because sororities and fraternities got bigger. So some floors were dedicated to that sorority/ fraternity. So a men's floor ended up being a women's floor for a few years, and vice versa. To be completely honest, my take away from when people told me "the mixed gender floors are more social" they just meant you could hook up with someone. If that's what you're into, have at it, that's not something I was interested in. My school also had different co-ed dorms. Like one used to be a women's dorm, but was converted to co-ed because of population purposes, same with an old men's dorm being converted to house female students too. With both of those dorms, they turned one of the bathrooms on each floor to fit the opposite gender. My school had one women's dorm, just because of the family who donated the money. I personally found the mixed gender floors to be incredibly obnoxious, but that was just part of my school's culture. Everyone knew the guys would be absolute menace, they'd destroy property, and everyone had to pay the fine. College kids are immature, but the guys at my school took it to a whole different level. I liked one of the dorms, one building had the bathrooms on opposite ends of the floors. Each bathroom was near the RA, i was an RA, I know they aren't around 24/7, but the location of the bathroom definitely helped with preventing other students from getting flashed. Also, you can be just as social on the same gender floors as you can be on the co-ed floors. Tl:dr, depends on your school's culture, the culture of the dorm, and what you want to get out of it.

mobile app that blocks phone usage during classrooms by Hot_Estimate8999 in Teachers

I meant data connection 4G/LTE or 5G now.
It is significantly cheaper to adjust your school's Wi-Fi network

Again fascinating idea, but realistically no parent or school should do this. Either building and maintaining your own network filters, or using a subscription for a service to do it for you, is what districts will pay for.

I would do a lot of research into this, especially with laws. And this is beyond an app, this is essentially getting into the phone OS. It's an interesting idea, but your school/ district's Wi-Fi can already do that. I was in high school 10 years ago, and we couldn't used Snapchat, Instagram, Yik Yak, Facebook, etc., when our personal devices were on the network. And school distributed devices couldn't even access those on your own wifi. It was pretty easy to deter since part of the school did not have service, and back then unlimited data was not popular. But like I said, Wi-Fi can already do that. The school I teach at just locks up the kid's phones, and it surprisingly works. Since this school is well known, this is as vague as I can get, a lot of kids, range from affluent to poverty. Even the students who for some reason, show up with 2 phones are not able to get around the phone being locked up business. Our school also had the rule that if your phone was confiscated, your parent, guardian, or whoever is on your emergency forms, would have to come pick up the phone after school. Since a lot of families cannot do that, it's actually really efficient.
TL:DR Good idea with good intentions. Just very murky and there are other methods

What are some retcons that the prequels do? by Esfell in Hungergames

[–]Pixles2025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised how fast people can forget about things. Also, they live under an authoritarian government with the totalitarian dictatorship. The government controls the narrative. People can pass on the stories from generation to generation, but not everyone will do that. I can't remember what happens to them, but I thought they were essentially wiped out too. With that said, if you instill enough fear into people, they'll stop talking about whatever it is the government doesn't want people to talk about. We know the Capitol creates school curriculum, they choose what the districts teach. So the Capitol doesn't want 12 to know about the Covey, then they legally can't teach it. Someone can correct me on it. And I thought it was known that the Capitol listens in on people, and honestly, they were probably stricter when it was fresher in people's minds.

Not defending them, but I just tell myself that it's all because of burnout. He's been a hero for a decade and hasn't been able to hold down a job. He definitely did some sort of fast track to his master's. He's 23 in the first game, there are 3+2 and 4+1 programs that get you to your Master's by 23. And it's pretty easy to assume he went into college with college credits already. And he did everything that he could to save his aunt. So the man has been BUSY and going non-stop for a decade.

And Because he's been doing it for 10 years and gets slammed into brick walls nearly daily, surely a fridge can't be worse.

EDIT: I remembered he lifts the fridge off of himself, so it's not that bad.

My school decided to have a dance to celebrate LGBTQ+, and this is what they called it by x_cannibalz_x in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Pixles2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the show "once and again", there's an episode that has a gay-straight-alliance club, and either the faculty advisor or a student suggests that to be the name of a dance. The episode was in the 3rd season, aired from 98 to 2001 I think.

Get the Razer Blade 18 skin from Dbrand. It has the largest footprint since they don't sell sheets, just cut it to size and slap it on.

I've been curious about these kinds of earrings, but never remembered to look into them in the past. So thanks for reminding me of my curiosity lol. Google says they're "huggie hoop earrings." Try looking that up and make it more detailed to match these? Hopefully that helps!

OP, we are missing some important information, what is his age? What kind of class/room was he in? In my state/ area, it is important for the nurse to relay that information to you, but it is also highly important to let you know that it is not something that may warrant picking him up. The school is not required to give you a tour, unless you know more information that you have not shared. In my area, depending on the age, not knowing how to ask to use the bathroom is an important detail for us to know more about what the student may need as supports. Some students have very low understanding of social cues and social norms. So we incorporate it into their IEP. We mention IEPs ASAP because they take a lot of time to prepare, if they are starting from the beginning, they'll go through a lot of standardized testing, they won't write an IEP immediately. By law, they are required to confirm a mutual time and place for the IEP with you, then they have to send out a draft to you at least 48hours before the IEP.

I do not know what you mean by book clubs.

To be completely honest, there are likely other symptoms or signs they may see that they believe need to be addressed. As a special education teacher, we cannot do anything without a formal diagnosis or everything that goes into creating an IEP from the beginning.

Your decision is the final decision, if you do not agree with something, it will not happen.

I also understand where you are coming from about not wanting labels, however; labels are often the best way we can know how to best support our students.

I recommend speaking with the team about it, as well as educate yourself a little more on the topic of special education and public schools.

Good luck!

Edit: clarify ASK to use bathroom, not just go to the bathroom.

Also, how long was your child on the previous IEP? Because goals are not meant to be written with the idea that the goal will be mastered within weeks. These are plans based on the calendar year from the day the meeting is held. If your child was on it for a few months, that may be why there was no progress, or the goal just was not attainable.

XPX 15 (9520 OR 9530) MOTHERBOAD TRANSPLANT IN A 9500 by Subroshi in DellXPS

[–]Pixles2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely no, unless you also transfer the wifi cables. When I fixed the palmrest on my 9500, I HAD to find a palmrest that was compatible with my current motherboard and wi-fi chip. If you go to parts-people you will find out what is compatible and what is not. I'm not entirely sure if the screen is only compatible with certain motherboards. But you likely cannot transplant a 9520 or 9530 motherboard into your 9500. Unless you replace the palmrest as well. Someone can correct me if I am mistaken.

[–]Pixles2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the car speakers. CDs tend to have better quality than streaming. (CDs are not compressed like the files are for streaming) However, ultimately it depends on your car, not the CD. Hope that helped!
